I sold my baby :(
Hey guys. The worst has happened. I had to sell my gxl. It simply wasnt fast enough. Didnt pump out enough amps either, even with the new alternator for my 3400-some watt sound system. She had to go. She served me well, but I just needed more. That and I need more space for more sub box volume. She served me well. Now i'm looking for a new car.
The options are as follows:
-Mitsu 3000gt
-dodge stealth rt turbo
-talon tsi awd
-eclipse gsx
-mr2 turbo
-celica all-trac (impossible to find)
-nissan 300zx
-fd3s (too expensive, cant afford one)
Anyone have any other suggestions?

So you want speed and space for subs? How many subs & size? Ported or sealed? How fast do you want your next car to be?

Thinking of four eclipse aluminums. I know they will fit in the rx7, but the lack of ambient space creates a very boomy feel, and the lack of separation from the cabin makes the bass inaccurate. I've researched the other cars and they seem to have much better acoustics (AND MUCH LESS RATTLES!!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!)

You know, if I was interested in a dumbass comment like that, I'd join a honda forum. But it is possible to have a fast car, and a sound system that weighs in at about 150 pounds extra. That's not that big of a deal. a tenth of a quarter mile score. So shut up

I'm not familiar with your setup, but I've heard a few Turbo II sound systems that had pretty tight/accurate bass. I'm assuming your running a good component setup such as System Q EX, Bass Engine Pro, etc..
I know a SE that's been winning quite a few awards for overall sound quality, but he's only pushing ~3000watts overall.
So you feel even with the best setup & tuning you can't get the overall volume & sound quality you want?
Wouldn't this a problem with any hatchback then?
Ah don't worry about Jarod - he likes to **** on everyone's threads.

i got $5000 canadian for it ($4 USD )
I'm not doubting that the car has the potential to have a very good system. its just hard to do in a car full of little rattles( tonnes of sound deadening).
How much is the mr2???

The couger isn't really a sports car, more of a sports sedan - so the handlings not there.
I mean you could wrap the interior of the rx-7 in sound dedining material (or any sports car for that matter).
This is really part of installing any high end system - fixing the raddles & squeeks.

I am not for the cougars. When they came out I was thinking "man they made a huge improvement." Now all I can think is my friends automatic 92 integra smokes them. Your GXL should smoke one. How fast do you want (say 1/4 mile time)?

But if I was building an audio car and couldn't use the FC the next choices would be the Celica or a 91+ 300 ZX (but I doubt you'll find one for for $5000 CD.

Before you buy anything. Try a 95 -97 Cady STS. My wife will rarely let me drive her's. It's way faster than my 91 & will almost handle as well. I still prefer the 7 with its RWD.

I was able to mount two 12" aluminum subs in my car, but it took a grip of fiberglass and two weeks to do. But, unless they are on, you don't even know they are there!
