ok, not to sound mean or anythin but lets look at this objectivly.
1) you have no idea what you doing, correct? rotarys are not you ballpark.
2) you are getting nothing out of it.
3) the entire upper/lower intake system was removed, i dodnt even see it in the pics, do
you still have it? if not thats a big problem.
5) the wiring harness is unplugged and prolly hacked up.
6) is the engine good? i wouled comp test it. theres a gay you can doo it with that stuff off. do this...

get a friend, hand turn the main pully to get the rotors moving and listen for 3 even puffs from each exaust hole. it you hear em its proly ok but id stick my fingers in the holes to feel for gouging on the rotor housings tho (after he stopps turning it.)
that 600 hp thing is a load of crock. dont believe it for a second.that wiring tells all.

now that we have confrmed that this isnt worth your time for no reward. lets look at your options.
1) tell him its pointless and to forget it.
2)request some kind of monetary gain
3) offer to buy the car and do it for your self.

i would go with 3, these cars kick *** are easy to work on once you ask some questions and get your hands dirty, and they are the embdyment of a true sports car. fast fun sleek and extreamly unique. that damn rotary engine is addictive. these high rpms mmmmmm....
cruising at 6k or so, and not even worrying about it. ahh..
keep the damn car! dont let it get junked, you can get a engine fairly cheap if its blown and you look around.

Heres the update.

He put a stop on the check like I told him, and we are going to drop it back off. (This is my disclaimer for what I'm about to say, I'm not racist, nor ignorant, I’ve just seen these things happen before many times with a variety of people, so if I offend anyone I apologize, every race has their retards, Whites have their cracker rednecks, Blacks have there ni**ers, and Hispanics have their spics….etc) The people he got this car from weren’t the most honest looking people in the world. When we went to go get it, it was the first time I saw it and I could immediately tell that this thing was ghetto rigged to the max (hence the red wires everywhere, massive amounts of electrical tape, and homemade connectors) it wasn’t till I got it to my driveway in which I really saw this thing up-close. The motor and the trans were rebuilt (supposedly) When I started to notice things like the huge hole cut in the firewall, the injector wire fried, and the random homemade connectors I said F this. Like someone said mechanical problems can be fixed if you throw enough parts at it. Wiring issues are nightmares. These people didn’t even want to let us take the car until the check cleared, I know why, then proceeded to tell us why they don’t like dealing with white boys because they pay with checks and not cash.(who’s the ignorant one, me and my friends use cash in all of our dealings, checks are the last resort and then we would rather wait till they could get the cash.) I really love RX-7’s when I was in High School my buddy had one and we put a lot of time into that car to make it look nice. They are on my top ten list of favorite cars. If this was my car and I could spend my time (like this summer) fixing it I would. I would tear the whole thing to the frame and start from the ground up. I don’t have the time with balancing school and work, and now I have to replace the head on my car too. Also the money is an issues, this kid doesn’t have the capacity to fund this type of project, even with me doing free labor. I just know when we drop this off we are gonna have a problem, I could tell that these people wanted to get this thing out of their lives and the saw a “stupid white boy” to pawn this project off on.

I would love to buy this Turbo and his NA, His and the shell is mint on the NA and it even has old school Riken wheels, With the NA shell, Turbo body piece’s and Turbo drive train I could piece together one hell of a FC (except both interiors are shot, I would just run it gutted Blue and Red suck). The thing is I don’t have the time, money, or garage space.

Thank you for your input on this subject, I’ll let you know if I get shot.

im sorry that your first rex experience went this way. but there are nice ones out there most of em are anyway, so dont let this skew your idea of 7's, and perhaps you may come across one some day andhave yourself a nice project.
if you dont mind me asking, how much did they want for it?

Requested pics

I was told all the bolts that are needed to put it back together are here. If this thing was such a great track car, how come it need the fuel pump switch trick

It's an 87

Shameless Honduh plug, I couldn't post all these pics and not one of my own engine bay, this is where I feel at home.

Ok, lets make this easier. Find a new engine harness and pull the motor out and reassemble it. Hopefully the kid has money for a new harness. Look in the for sale section and ebay, I always see harness up for sale for around $150. If your really good with cars, then it should be moderately difficult but it can be done. I started learning how to work on car off the rotary and I managed to know how it works and how to work on it. This forum helps a lot too, so we can help you out. and get a factory service manual or a haynes manual to get familiar with the parts. Just read and it should be ok.

Why did I see like 5 people say the engine was an NA?

Its a 13bt... Hes supposed to listen to you guys, when you clearly cant even tell what engine it is? Its a damn 4 port for christ sake. lol

On a more constructive note, I would concur with the consensus on this subject.
If you had more experience working on 7's then it wouldnt be that hard. As long as you got a few new parts and cleaned up a few things. Putting them back together isnt hard at all.

However, that being said and knowing you dont have the experience needed to finish this particular job in any sort of timely manner, I'd say scrap it.
If the kid cant do it himself then there is no hope for the car. It will always have issues (fact). If he cant fix it himself, he will be coming back to you, blaming you, etc.. etc..

again, I agree with the masses here and say clean up some parts and try to sell them.
