Angry I Need To Disconnect This Buzzer!!!

All I need to know, is what is the easeyest way to diconnect the warning buzz that comes on for everything. Because The bassterd that owned my car befor has screwed up the wires that go to the warninig lights, somewhere between the alt., battery, and the warning light. I have tryed to find the wires that he screwed up and I ended up under the strearing calom and found a conector that is missing the other side of the conector. There are two wires coming out of the the connector, one all yellow and one black with a yellow strip in it. so if anyone knows where or what color the other wires that sapost to be connected to the other side that would help alot and hopfully stop the light and the buzzer. If no one knows that just tell me how to dissconect the the danm buzzer.

Depends on which buzzer it is, and what really is causing it.

Actually, this might be a good time to ask a similiar question.

I'm pretty sure the buzzer in my S5 doesn't work. My warning lights work, but if something comes on (like check oil or ... I forget the others) it never buzzes. I also don't get a buzz when I redline it, unless that's a TII only feature..

If the previous owner disconnected or disabled the buzzer, where should I look if I want to fix it?

The HEINOUS buzzer of doom is found in the gauge cluster (at least in s4's). I performed an abortion on it using a drill... Never buzzed again.

It's a small white 'speaker' found on the circuit-board on the back of the cluster. However, I would attempt to FIX the problem before destroying it... The buzzer is a NECESSITY on stock gauges etc. Rx7's.

I have spent a whole day, tracing wires and using All Data at work to hlep me trace those wires. What it has led me too, is a lose connector under the steering column that goes to the PCM thats in the drivers floor bord. There are two wires coming out of the connector, one is a solid yellow the other is black with a yellow strip. Now what I think is wrong, is the other side of that connector is missing. If anyone knows where the other side of the connector is or what color wires are coming out of the other connector are, that will hlep me out alot. The buzzer is not the one in the PCM, it is the one that is in the dash on the other side of the gauge cluster. If anyone can tell me how to kill that thing, that would also be great. Just make it go away, I can deal with the light being on. I need help asap please.

I know the problem if you read above. If someone will just walk out to thier car and look under their steering column and look up there behind the cover under there and tell me what connection the solid yellow wire and the solid black wire with a yellow stripe is connected to. So please tell me the colors of the other wires coming out of the other connection?

well.....there is also a "add coolant" warning light which is more than adequate in my book! so 2 warnings arent necessary in my book! and an annoying one at that!

What he is trying to tell you is that if you are hearing a buzzer or seeing a light, something is wrong. If you are seeing the light or hearing the buzzer often enough for it to get annoying, something needs to be looked at.

The battery and the alt. are fine. I checked them both at work with our battery tester. If no one can tell me what the wires are then just tell me the easiest way to get to the buzzer and disconnect it.

Do not disconnect the buzzer. Just fix what is causing it to buzz.

The buzzer sounds for 3 reasons:

1. Overrev
2. Low coolant
3. Low oil

We can eliminate number 1, so you have a wiring problem with either your oil level sensor or coolant level sensor. Pick up your trust Factory Service (see FAQ) or Haynes manual and turn to the wiring diagrams. You will find that the coolant sensor turns the buzzer off anytime it sees ground, and the oil level sensor is opposite. Check the appropriate wires to make sure that they are not shorting or open. The manuals contain full test proceedures for both sensor.

DO NOT disconnect the buzzer. It is there for your protection. In sunlight, you often cannot see the warning light and by the time you do the damage is already done. This buzzer has saved my engine several times when coolant lines blew.

LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN I KNOW i HAVE A WIRING PROBLEM!!!! If someone would help me out by looking under their steering column and finding the connector with two wires going into it. One is solid yellow and the other is black with a yellow strip. Just tell me what color the wires coming from the other side of the connector are that would be a big help. Or tell me where the other side of the connector is located. I spent a whole day tracing wires and thats where it lead me. The connector is missing b/c some f**ker toke it off or somthing.

I didn't see you talking about actually checking the cooling system anywhere on here, though I read it sorta quick. Now if the buzzer is ALWAYS on, problem with the buzzer, sure, maybe. But if the buzzer ever goes off for a bit and then comes back on then you might actually have a coolant problem. It's not like the wires are plugging and unplugging themselves sporadically just to spite you.

The battery, alt., and coolent are all fine and everything else is fine, its just i have a wiring problem form the alt. to what ever controles the battery light and the buzzer. i don't need the buzzer b/c I can just read the battery gauge in the car. So just please just tell me how to get to the buzzer the easiest way and kill that basterd.

You know it goes off when it's supposed to, because it goes off when you lose enough coolant for it to be 'low'.

Now, in theory, if you had a working coolant system, you would hear this buzzer maybe.... once every couple of years? Possibly? Unless you are purposely starving your car of coolant I don't see how you could know that it's supposed to come on 'when it's supposed to'. I will say it again:

If the buzzer is going off, there is a problem somewhere. I don't care if you put coolant in and it takes a week before it goes off again. It shouldn't go off again if there isn't a problem.

i know the coolent is ok, because the light for the coolent comes on when it needs to. The coolent is not my problem that light isn't even on. The only light that comes on and stays on is the battery light. The reason for the light coming on is the WIRES under the steering column not being connected. The wires that are not connected are the wires that send the signal to the warning lights. That is why the buzzer is going off. If you could tell me what the wires on the other side of the connector look like that would help me a lot. I know its not the coolant.

Have you looked in the FSM wiring diagrams? All of the info you need is in there, including wire colours, harness layouts, plug location, etc.
