i need advice bad! :(

yo i'm having this coolant leak problem, don't really have the time or knowledge to fix it on my own, can anyone recommend a good place to just get a diagnosis so i can get this taken care of? will a place like pepboys be able to handle it? i have a '90 gxl, NA, and i'm in the new orleans area. thanks...

when i bought it, the car had the leak. the people said the water pump needed to be replaced. the leak does not affect the coolant tank, which stays full all the time. the add coolant warning comes on and i have to add coolant to the radiator, even though the coolant tank remains full -- i just want to know if this is simple enough to trust pepboys or something with, you know, because of the rotary engine, but i'm pretty sure they should be able to handle it

Well I don't know if I would trust pepboys with your rotary, but I have no experience with them. I would hunt around in there, find out where its leaking from, and replace it myself if I was you.

is it a visable coolant leak i.e u see coolant on the floor that came from ur car? if it's not visible,and you have a internal leak then you should bring it to a rotary specialty shop. not any ol mech. they'll *** some **** up. i bought a rex for $150 with a new motor and alot of parts cause the shop couldn't get it started. they said it sat in the garage for 3years. they mixed up the spark plug wires. go figure

if it's the water pump, it's not as horrible to change as it may sound, might be a day or two project depending upon your experience, but should be managable with a 10mm,12mm & 14mm

i know-- i saw something at fc3s.org about the water pump -- i appreciate the advice, but in less than 10 days i have to drive home from school which is about an hour non stop, and i don't want to overheat the engine -- i also don't have time to go and buy a water pump and some tools and just start tearing up the engine without knowing if the water pump is even the problem, i have final exams to take, so its just too much to worry about right now. i guess i could try to diagnose the problem myself by searching the board -- i appreciate the help
