As I missing something?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6327
The guy wants $8000 for a S4 GXL with a rebuilt engine and a nice paint job? Why does he have 720cc secondaries and a cosmo fuel pump? I didn't see a mention of any turbo or SC. This one confuses me. Why does everyone enjoy spending money on pointless items? At least his car is tuned.

I just can't get over the $8000. I can get an FD here locally for $7000 and rebuild the engine for $1000. This guy is retarted for selling his S4 NA for $8000. And I hope to god no one is dumb enough to pay that.

Take another look:
9,000 mile professionally-built street-ported engine
Fluidyne radiator
Racing Beat 8mm Street Wires
Jacobs Ignition pack
Brand new alternator from NAPA with lifetime warranty
ACT racing clutch, pressure plate and flywheel
MazdaSpeed short shifter and shift ****
Brand new driveshaft with replacable U-joints
Full Mazdaspeed Adjustable Coilovers with dampening control
Front Strut Tower Bar
Full 3" Racing Beat Exhaust
Bonez mid section – high flow catalytic converter and silencer
PowerStop cross drilled rotors, front and back
Mazdaspeed pads, & steel braided lines
Defi Link System Gauges (FYI these gauges rock!)
Apex’i Super-AFC
Now that we have looked past the rice, this is some good stuff!
The tires also have a decent amount of tread.
front: Nitto 555 (90% tread)
rear: Bridgestone (85% tread)
I only have two questions though:
1) Why use the S-AFC and a reprogrammed chip? I must be missing something about that J-Spec chip. Timing maybe? Why not just slap on a LT8 for the same price? IMO two band-aids don't equal a life support system.
2) Full Mazdaspeed Adjustable Coilovers with dampening control. Um, the full Mazdaspeed suspension for the FC (aka Stage II Kit) is a Koni/Eibach setup with camber/caster plates and Eibach swaybars. I know, because I have it on my car, lol. So what's on this car? Anybody? Bueller?

the old "mazdaspeed" company (in japan before the name was bought by mazda comp) had a coil over kit I'm pretty sure. I think corksport sold it.
edit: yep still on the corksport site too

Personally I think the only thing wrong with that car (apart from the engine bay detailing) is that it's not turbo'd.

I do see the good stuff, but not anything that can sell the car for more than what its going for now, $4000. If it didn't have the stuff you mentioned its a sub $1000 car. At least thats what I can get NAs for all day. I'm sure he wants to get his money back, but its just not going to happen. If he wanted to spend all that money, he should have done it on a TII for a better resale value.

I don't see too much rice either. A little repainting under the hood, and a remove those pedal covers and you'd have one really nice RX in my opinion. I'd buy it, for about 5500 though.

Damn guys. $5500? Holy ****. I'd sell my TII for around there. He has basic upgrades to an NA. I sold my GXL for $600 lol. Pretty good shape, ran strong as hell. Probably would beat this one, straight line wise. I never said it was very ricey. Just wayyyy too much money for a S4 NA, no matter the shape.

OK, so it's not as good as my Mazda Comp suspension, but it looks like a really nice non-competition or autocross setup.

How can you call that an NA with "basic" mods? That thing is loaded for a street car, and has a show-quality paint job (minus the minor damage) and a fairly new rebuilt SP engine. No, it doesn't have the mods that I would like given the money spent on the car, but it does have a lot of good quality stuff. It's not like somebody putting a junkyard intercooler and Home Depot boost controller on their TII and thinking that they have something. You guys need to understand that not everybody likes turbocharged cars, and not everybody considers the S5 superior to the S4. It sounds like you are biased toward the S4 NA, which many people consider the best RX-7 made, myself included.
BTW, you probably could have sold your GXL for twice that amount.

You can get them all day long, put all the mods you want to remain NA and it still is a 15 second car if running good for the most part.

As for the parts you listed as being worth $1,000-2,000, approximate new values as follows:
$4,000 SP Rebuild with new rotors and housings
$400 Fluidyne Radiator
$100 Racing Beat 8mm Street Wires
$350 Jacobs Ignition pack
$180 Brand new alternator from NAPA with lifetime warranty
$700 ACT racing clutch, pressure plate and flywheel
$300 MazdaSpeed short shifter and shift ****
$300 Brand new driveshaft with replacable U-joints
$1600 Full Mazdaspeed Adjustable Coilovers with dampening control
$100 Front Strut Tower Bar
$600 Full 3" Racing Beat Exhaust
$300 Bonez mid section – high flow catalytic converter and silencer
$200 PowerStop cross drilled rotors, front and back
$200 Mazdaspeed pads, & steel braided lines
$800 Defi Link System Gauges
$300 Apex’i Super-AFC
$10,430 Total
Even if you figure in 50% value for being used, that's still worth over $5K, not including all of the other parts (fuel pump, injectors, etc.), the nice paint job and all of the show parts. It looks to me like there is about $20K in this car.
