ok i unplugged the 3 plugs from the ecu. on the top right and left corner of the metal plate someone had put band-aids around the corners idunno y.

yea but anyways...so now i have to take out all the fuses under the hood but leave the red 30a comp one? I cant seem to get out that black one in the middle.

If i leave the 30a one it has to be a non blown one correct?

Ok. I just finished with my 86. The time it took was the time of this post minus the last post.

I overstated things. Just remove the three plugs from your ECU. Then remove the large plug on the MAIN RELAY. The harness part of that plug has a BLACK/WHITE wire. Put one of your leads in that socket. Put your negative lead on the battery negative post. You should not read and resistanve. If you meter reads mega ohms and you see something in megaohms, disregard it. If you read anything in Kohms or OHMS then you've a problem.

Again, leave all the other plugs on that I mentioned EXCEPT THE THREE ECU plugs. To access the MAIN RELAY you remove the three nuts that hold the Trail coil on and just move the coil assy aside. The MAIN RELAY is bolted with one bolt to the fender. It has two plugs. One rectangular...the other round. Pull apart the rectangular one. Find the BLACK/WHITE wire and do as I said above. Let us know what the resistance is.

It took me this long because I read resistance with everything apart. I forgot I'm tapping off the diagnostic plug to my SummitRacing rpm switch. I had to extract that wire. Then I read wide open. IF any of the ECU plugs are attached you'll read *something*, so make sure all three are disconnected.

I also forgot my 86boost sensor had an extra ground attached to its ground wire.
So that plug on MY car had to be removed. Yours should not. Only the ECU plugs and the one on the MAIN RELAY. Piece of cake.

Oh you've been posting while I was writing. We're miscommunicating.

I assumed you were getting a meter out and ohming out the black/white wire circuit that has been shorting out and blowing the fuse.

So if yiour not going to do it that way, just remove the four plugs on the solenoid rack and see what happen. Got a block off plate? Then what condition are the two connectors that attached to it?

If your running the car and not ohming out the circuit for a short, then reattach the ECU plugs and just remove the blue, orange, grey. whatever color plugs on the solenoid rack and start the car and see if the fuse blows.

I'm going back and read what you just wrote.

OUCH. If your starting the car then put all the fuses back in and start it. It was the most inboard fuse on the engine fuse block that was blowing. RIGHT????? Does it blow if you start the car with the four plugs off the solenoid rack? If it does, then you HAVE to get a meter and do as I described in the post's above. Looking for a dead short with the ECU plugs off and reading thru the one plug on the MAIN RELAY (the black/white wire).

I do none of the above and you can add Western Union, UPS, and the Pony Express to that list.

I think the best thing you can do is send it off to a mechanic/Mazda dealer or start another thread on this site and let someone else give it a try. Done.

Try PM'ing WAYNE. He might be able to help you.
