I give up, GXL for sale.

Alright, I've lost all interest and/or faith in my GXL conversion. It just won't run no matter what I do to it, and I'm tired of screwing with it only to find out I've been screwed over more and more by some ******* who think's it's funny to sell people blown engines and then not take them back. Anyway, for anyone who's interested, it's for sale in the for sale section with pictures. If I don't get a resonable offer, I'll just drop a 350 in it and sell it locally. Thanks for all the help, but I just can't take it anymore.

Are you sure the compression is bad? You might as well tell us who the seller was so we don't get ripped either.

You know, perhaps if you expose the person who ripped you off, they might be more willing to give you what you paid for.

Just a thought...

Hah, when I got the engine, the compression was 20-20-20 in the front rotor! I've since tried to rebuild it, and right now it's running 85-90-90 or so from the pulses, but since the guy also declined to tell me he put all series 4 parts on a series 5 engine (including the PULLEY with the CORRECT timing marks) I'm sort of screwed, because I have no idea where the hell the timing marks are. If you want to know, pm me, I'm tired of bringing this up in public.

Well, there is a way to solve the timing problem you are having. I feel for you man, really, I've had SOO many problems with my T2 conversion. I'm finally getting mine ironed out though. Big *** Fuel pump was dumping far too much gas into the engine for me to get the car to idle right. i switched to a stock pump and it seems to do fine now. So I guess I gotta get a fuel controller to run the Walbro correctly. Just something to think about.

I'm running a stock T2 pump. It won't start on it's own, it takes almost an hour of playing to get it to start, and then when it does it won't idle below 2K rpm, otherwise it just stalls and dies. I'm tired of all the damn problems, I just don't care anymore. I've never had anyone rip me off until I got the rx7, hopefully it'll go away with it.

****, I feel for you really. I felt as you do many times during my conversion. I even got ripped for $760 in the process. Wish I could help.

Funny thing about this. I searched and it appears that you have only been working on your conversion for 3 months! Did you expect to be able to just plug everything in and go? Especially, if this is the first rotary swap you've done. Mine has taken upwards of six months now. It has been a BITCH too, but I live in Oklahoma where there are like 3 rx7's in the whole state and NO rotary shops. I've had to figure out everything on my own, with little advice from people hundreds of miles away that know little about my specific car. Not trying to give you a hard time but it seems like you are giving up kinda easy.

As far as getting ripped off, you are the first person I've ever heard say that about ***** and I've dealt with him several times.

well i was also ripped off by a forum member! and well he has no remorse! But i mean i dealt with it and am now on the road to success! as i am not leaning toward a faster car with new turbo and s-afc.. and quite a few other mods! But good luck whether you decide to sell or to fix!

Six month for a conversion? What are you imagining is so difficult? It's quite easy, if it weren't for the blown engine, and all the wrong damn engine parts, this car would've been done months ago. I've got about $2,000 tied up in this engine alone, from switching all of his series 4 stuff back to series 5 like it should be, however, I still can't find the right pulley, which has been most of my problem. As I said, I've never been screwed over an any deal until I got this rx7, and now it's happened around 4 times. The conversion was unbelievably easy. If I had a decent motor that wasn't a constant guess-work, I'd of been set from the begining.

It can't be that hard to get a pulley.

Try Mazda auto recycling or
Mazda Auto dismantling

both in Rancho Cordova, CA they carry a **** load of used RX parts.

The pulley isn't the only problem. Bad ECU as well.

they have ECU's also .. They have hundreds I'm sure they will let one go cheap. Buy all you parts from them at one time they will cut you a deal. I bought my whole auto to manual tranny mod from them for my N/A for a very fair price.

Plus do to your bad luck they warranty ANY part for 6 months. If a used part is going to fail, its prolly going to fail within 6 months.

The problem is, I'm broke, I'm beyond tired of even trying anymore, and I'm tired of all the thing's people sell me not working. Of course I can get another ECU or pulley, but I don't really even want to bother with it anymore.

I don't know what to say then. I hope you have a daily driver. If you have a daily... take a break, the value of your car is not going to go down. If in a few months if you still don't want to mess with it, then sell it.

Thats what i would do. It's kinda like a woman... you get pissed and say "**** her" but then ... you go without long enough, you crawl back to her

I'm not too sure about that one. If my woman was anything like this car, I'd of turned gay or something. I have 3 other cars I can drive around, so I'm not too worried, I'm just tired of it.

I can't count how many times I have been up at 2am trying to get "one last" thing done before I get some sleep. I plug away and plug away for hrs on end, untill I just about break somthing ... then I wake up fresh in the morning and it takes me 5 minutes to do what was taking Hrs to not get done the nite before. Its just burn out... yours is alonger term burn out, but similar.

Either way man, G luck to you. And if you sell the car, try to sell it to someone who will get it running not part it out.

Yeah, I've spent 4 months on this damn car so far, of that time, 3 of those months has been spent on waiting for everything to arrive and then, once those thing's arrived, waiting for the parts to FIX those thing's to arrive, then waiting for the parts I didn't know I had to fix, but figured out later. It's just pathetic. Here's a list of issue's with the guy I bought the engine:

Engine related:
All stuck side seals on the front rotor, no compression.
Series 4 turbo/manifold
Series 4 intake manifolds/throttlebody
Series 4 injectors (2 T2 and 2 NA)
Series 4 Front cover
Series 4 MOP
Series 4 waterpump
(pretty much a series 5 block with all series 4 parts)
I paid for a series 5 ecu, and he sends me a burnt out series 4!
The stock clutch fan was sold with the engine, which he has never shipped.
I bought the harness from him at the same time, and when I got it, it was a series 5 harness with the injector plugs hacked off and series 4 plugs on it.

I paid for the engine in full, and then had to wait around for a month before it finally got shipped! I then recieved the engine, but nothing else, no harness, no ecu, nothing! So I spent the next 2 weeks trying to contact him (never returned calls/never answered phone/responded to PM's once in a while saying he was busy/etc) I finally got ahold of his dad, and his dad said it would be sent out, I get it, and it's the series 4 ecu, and still no fan. If he would've sent me the right damn ECU at least (and it worked) I wouldn't be needing to buy yet ANOTHER ecu (the third damn one for this car, since I got one bad one, one bad series 4, and now I'll need a new one!) Just gets VERY tiring after a while.

Damn that is SHITTY! Well as for getting mine running, I pulled my engine apart when I got it to check and replace the internals. Getting all the parts together takes some time as well. That is what has taken me so long. But I have also driven mine then pulled the engine, added mods, driven car, pulled the engine, added mods etc..
