I feel like its a bad thing putting a nice stereo in my FC
Im getting ready to put my stereo in from my old car and came to think, why? First I though, added weight and I would want to turn it up loud and then I wont be able to hear the damn engine. Blah, Im in a dilemma. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm a fan of a good stereo in a car. Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it all the time
In my FC, I have a Pioneer Deck, 2 Audiobahn 6.5" in the dash, with the tweeters mounted on the gauge cluster surround, 2 Infinity 3.5" On my doors, 2 Pioneer 5x7s in the rear shock towers, and 1 10" Audiobahn natural sub, powered by a 280W audiobahn amp. The box is now part of the rear of the car, I it's wedged into the spare tire section. Sounds great, and doesn't take up any usuable room
In my miata, I have a Pioneer MP3/CD player, two kenwood 6.5s in the doors, with 2 Audiobahn 3.5s" in each seat, one Alpine 10" sub powered by a 240W audiobahn amp. Also sounds great, Also doesn't take up any useable room

Yeah, put you some 6 inch rounds behind the seats and some component speakers in the doors with a amplifier of sufficient power. Concerned about weight? What would all that weigh, maybe 10-15 lbs. Also, is this car your daily driver or your racing car? The only reason to worry about wieght would be if it was a race car, and why would you put a stereo in a race car anyway? So if is your daily driver , what's the big deal about weight?

i want to put one in mine also. once i get it running again,,, but i think i has a kinda crazy idea... im gonna peal back the whole rear carpet, take out the fiberglass piece that the storage bins sit in,and build a box to those demensions, but have it come up in the back a little bit to aim the speakers towards the hatch, and put the carpeting back over it.. and also have a square that dips down to mount the amp flush under plexi on the floor..
kinda hard to explain, maybe ill make me a little scetch and post it

But I like just speakers and a nice deck. I really don't need anymore, but thats just me. If I had a 400hp street car, sure I'de have a system. Otherwise with my NA, I couldn't add 50lbs after I spent alot of time removing 100.

I dunno, once you go with a system with a sub, its extremely hard to go back. I never go crazy in my cars, 1 10" sub a piece, but it really sucks driving without that low end that you come to know and love..

I let the sound of a pissed off ported rotary sooth my nerves, it's not boring unless you live in a city and have to deal with straight roads and traffic.

Plus when I built them (before I got a much better job I did custom enclosures for my cousins shop), I couldn't nearly make the bins work as effectly without heavy modification. Pretty much a box inside of a box Which is more money and more weight, so I scrapped the idea and take care of it locally if need to be. But I hardly have a job there anymore since my new one doubled in pay.

Believe me, angle the sub and you will be fine, and, on top of that, dont put the sub in the actual bin. Remove the bin and build in the space it previously took up. Just point the cone of the sub slightly toward the center of the car and you will be fine.

All I really want is to get my back speakers working again. They use to cut in an out, but now they cut no more. So all I have left are the front ones. Though, a nice cd player would be a good touch in my car since I can't play burned cds. Plus the tape player doesn't work. I just like keeping it the way it is. I use to be into the whole system thing, but find myself being satisfied with what i have now.

I'd just like 2 easily removable 6x9's where the bins go, deck mounted between them, and 5x7's up front. Decent sound, easily removed for track days (not DD, soon to be gutted interior) control the deck with a remote if I need to. (I want to use the stock stereo location for gauges).
