I was converting to silicone hoses today, and accidentally broke the top nipple off of the purge valve (right beside the oil fill neck), but from what the factory service manual says, I don't need to care as much as I was making it seem like with all my swearing earlier. The FSM says it takes fuel tank and charcoal canister evaporations and puts them in the intake, so now I guess they are leaking into the atmosphere. No big deal for the health of the car right? I'm going to get a new one ASAP anyway, but just wanted to make sure it's still ok to drive my car. Thanks.

Drive on . Go to the junque yard. Five bucks part. Oh yes. I think that hose that goes to the nipple might be pulling a vaccum now that it is broke off. Put your finger over it while the engine is running , and if it is just insert a small screw or the like into the hose end until you get a new part.

Get a 2-sided, barbed connector. Put one end into the new silicone tube and if necessary, trim the other side to fit into the where the nipple broke off.
