Now it wont go in gear besides 2nd. Also when i have it in neutral and let the cluth out it dies. when i give it gas when its in 2nd it dose Not Move just dies. dose this sound like a bad transmission now.
So sick of this car.Selling as is. read below for info on car. will send pics. MAKE OFFER ANY. . Engine runs strong new clutch and pp in may need tranny.
BTW: car will get towed if i dont sell. code enforcement came to house gave me 17 days to move it.

This happened to me a few years ago with my first FC.
I was locked out of all gears except 2nd & reverse.
Change your transmission fluid & make sure the reservoir under the shift stick is full also. mine was empty!
Then try to get the car moving by easing the clutch out in second gear.. drive around the block once & see if it will shift.
Its worth a shot,..'worked for me.

did it not move when it was locked in 2nd and reverse b/c mine wont and still dies in nutraul.
if its something that easy i would do 10000 back flips you dont even know. seems like fix one thing then something else breaks.
btw what reservoir under the shift stick didnt even see it when i changed the clutch. would it be listed in a haynes manual i have one.

hmm, it was a while ago & now that I've been thinking about it,... I didn't have reverse, I remember having the push the car backwards.
The reservoir is easy to get to. Just remove your shift boot, & the rubber boot.
remove the three bolts that hold the shift lever in place. There should be gear oil in there, I can't remember exactly how much, Check the online Factory Service Manual. http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory_service_manual/
This also may or may not be a good time to replace your shifter bushings.
& the inner boot, to keep the fluid in.
I ordered my bushings & boot from mazdatrix.
Or It could be something else clutch related, I don't know..
just trying to help.

Will the car start in Neutral and stay idling????? Or was this a one time thing? Sounds like maybe the clutch is still engaged and it's killing the car? If so, this is probably hydraulic... it's common for hydraulics to fail after installing a new clutch setup. My problems with my clutch went like this: car ran fine in all gears... it would die when you pushed the clutch in and held it to the floor. It had just enough hydraulic pressure to disengage the clutch, but pressure would bleed off inside the master cylinder causing the clutch to gradually re-engage -- this would cause the engine to stall.
Ummm, if it's not that, is the car worth a tranny rebuild? Might be able to get someone to do it in the $500 - $700 range. Hope you get it fixed... my NA isn't running right now either... I hope the engine didn't just pull it's last straw.

^^^^^ where you said there should be gear oil, is that what you are talking about. b/c when i changed the clutch i made sure i put plenty of gear oil in there.
if the shifter bushings are damaged or not there would that cause this problem.
also where do i get this online factory manual. my haynes manual is in my car wich is stuck in a parking lot about 15 min away. lol.

The shifter bushings wouldn't cause this problem unless one broke & was jammed in there just right. That comment was more of a while you're in there, might as well replace those..
I edited in a link to some online FSM's to my ^above post.

Well, try to eliminate some things... if it was hydraulics your clutch wouldn't disengage... if your transmission oil was leaking out, you'd know it, especially if you just changed it. Have you taken the shifter out to inspect it? I think you said you did. We elimintaed hydraulics... let's see... shifter is connected to... can you hear any sounds? Whirling sounds? I'm not an expert, but maybe I can help you go down the path to fixing it... So, you can only shift to 2nd, and Reverse... can you shift through them all with the engine off? Sounds like some gears in your transmission do not want to budge, for whatever reason.
And sure, if there was no hydraulic pressure, the clutch would not be able to be disengaged and allow you to shift to another gear. But, if you say it's not, I believe you, just trying to help.
Gotta run.

you check your clutch resevior? make sure there is pleanty. I would drain your new fluid and check for metal flakes or chunks, if you find any of those you can definatly call the tranny TOAST. I would recommend MT90 Redline tranny fluid for these tranny's, i use it and it shifts like butter. Did you replace your pilot bearing and throwout bearing? possibly put the clutch disc on backwards? If you pulled the flywheel to replace the rear main seal or have it resurfaced did you torque it down to spec and use thread locker? How many miles are on the tranny? its possable the shift linkage took a dump and bent or something to that effect. Also have someone push the clutch pedal in while you look at the slave cylinder, if its not engaging enough it wont let you shift. Can you shift into the gears while the car is off?
My questions are in no kind of order, but if you could tell us exactly what you replaced (P plate, bearings, clutch plate, etc) while you did your clutch change that will help. Mileage is everything, if you have 200K or more on the tranny i would consider it dead. Almost sounds like a shift linkage problem but i cant be sure. or possibly not enough fluid, do you know the correct measurement and level the fluid should be?
Just trying to help

well thx for the help. No leaking at all the last 6 days i looked under car every time to make sure. but will fill it tomm if needed. can only shift to 2nd from neutral, not reverse.
Also i did inspect the shifter looks fine. but really dont know what to look for.
ONE mager thing i forgot to say. When i opend the hood to inspect the problem i smelt something sweet buring like tranny oil. but looked every where couldnt see any wet spots.

clutch resvior is full. yes replaced everything. p and t bearing also torqured everything to the right specs. and yes the clutch is on right. i dont think it would even move for 6 days if it was not. tranny has 150k on it. Can not shift with car on or off besides neutral to 2nd. so would that eliminate the clutch slave cylinder. also the slave cylinder is also new only 15k.

what happened or what where you doing when this problem occured? where you driving the car or was it parked? did u have any difficulties shifting prior? it soulds like the shift fork is bent in your transmission and possibly jammed between two gears. it unfortunately happens. you can try to have someone yank on the shifter while you smack the transmission with a bfh preferably a dead blow. the car does run with the clutch pressed in and the vehicle not in gear. is it stuck in 2nd or can you go between n and 2nd?

^^^^^ i was on my way home from an hour drive but drove an hour to my destanation. then left to go home 15 min later. it drove smooth and perfectly. when i got of the highway and came to the next light shifted from 1st to 2nd then it started to f up. and got stuck.
can go inbetwin n and 2nd. but n is not n b/c it dies with the clutch out. make sense.

if you have no tranny fluid you can actually make it quite aways without any i know from first hand experience i pulled my motor and tranny put it all back together drove it about 500 miles or so then smelled a nasty smell and then alls i could do was put it in first and when i let the clutch out it was really hard to move
so if you didnt put any fluid back in the tranny and drove it for 6 days or so i could see it ******* the tranny up

OK glock, I read in previous threads similiar problems after clutch replacement. The two things that come to me off the top of my head, are the back up light/5th gear swith, and the neutral switch-both located on the side/top of the transmission. Maybe didn't get plugged back in, or bad connection. Just a thought. Also, go to top of page, click on search, and type in neutral switch. There are several good threads and lots of info on similiar problems that might shed some light. Hope this helps.
