Hmm Im curious is my **** compression has much to do with fuel economy ?

but hell it doesnt really worry me, sure fuel is pricy but hey if thats what it cost to have good power and a hell of a lot of fun then I will pay it ($1.14 a liter)
Absolutely lol, I don't even have a turbo and get similar economy to you :P But the fun is worth it heheh

I only get like 13 mpg city driving, how do most of you get 17mpg??? I replaced my o2 sensor and still get 13mpg. Would a S-AFC help? Would you gain power from that?

edit: The only things that i have done to my car other than suspension is cat back single side exhaust and intake.

ok, im sick of the city mpg BS!

city mpg varies so ******* much it isn't worth calculating because every ******* city has more stop light than other cities.... think someone who drives in new york city will get the same mileage as someone in a 100 person BFE town? i seriously hope not.

take your car out on the freeway and drive it 65 mph with your foot maintaining speed on a level road for a full tank of gas and then calculate your mileage.

if you want good gas mileage in the city get a scooter...

if i never hear another person complain about city mileage it will be too soon.

I hardly ever go on the freeway though, so I only have city to compare really. And I live near/by/in one of the worst traffic areas in the country last time I saw the rankings. I think it was like 3rd or 4th or something, and I still get great mileage so I'm happy.

that is understandable but you can't compare your mileage with someone elses city mileage, it just doesn't work...

Most of the engine work is too much work, I'm scared I'd mess something up. the only thing i want to get is a street port but it would cost too much to pull the engine just for that and it's only got 58K original miles on it. I've been working on suspension for now...ground control coilovers, kyb agx adjustibles, toe steer eliminators, front strut tower brace, rear camber links, thinking about bigger anti sway bars.

I got 27 MPG without cruise on my last road trip (highway). I have an '86 NA. Gutted pre-cats, stock cat, open airbox, electric fan (1.5 MPG improvement). The only accessories I am running are the alternator, water pump and A/C compressor. I get 15-16 MPG around town.

How about some "Mods" that actually affect mileage?

Painted FTP's are hardly relevant.

On average I get 18MPG which includes 25% street and 75% highway.

On my way back from Sevenstock last year I got 25mpg! I was like OMFG.
I was struggling to a gas station because my tank guage broke and I thought I was empty.
I was amazed when I only use like 4 gallons.

Generally I fill up 10 gallons every other day(64+ miles a day roundtrip for work)

Oooooh... real numbers on an efan conversion!

I do believe I'll get around to doing that now. Does your fan run while on the highway or do you shut it off?

I get 20-24mpg doing about 90% highway, 10% sub-10 mile trips. It really seems to depend on speed - the faster I go, the better the fuel economy. I just discovered I had a dragging caliper yesterday, so we'll see what numbers do when I get that fixed. I've been closer to 20 than 24 as of late, I suspect that's why.

The only significant mods I have are a Racing Beat presilencer/cat replacement, and a SAFC-II tuned down throughout the band. The biggest difference I've seen with the SAFC is that "canyon running" (as much as I can do in Iowa) doesn't make the gas gauge drop nearly as much. I have it pulling 30-40% out up high and I'm *still* rich of stoich.

I'm planning to at some point send my injectors in to be cleaned & see if it changes anything.

Today i parked my car in the drive way comming home from school.....after staying home for an hour i go out to eat lunch w/ some freinds...when i come home i find parking so i dont park in tha drive way......when i walked acroos my drive way, i saw a puddle of engine oil (smells like it)...

where can it be leaking from and what can cause this ??? How can i fix it???

Thanks guys

wow, i guess im lucky. i average about 22-24 mpg city, its not new york but it gets pretty crouded. i got 27mpg on the highway when i drove to tampa yesterday, but my radiators endtank cracked and i had to pull over about 4 times to top off the coolant.

90 gxl
cs catback
2.5 inch straight pipe
custom cai
no ac/ps
stripped interior
tokico blues and tanabe springs

it still runs rich because im guessing thats why it shoots about a foot and a half of flame from the rear

My mpg is anywhere from 15 to 20 in the city. On the highway I usually get around 25 mpg.

Mods and repairs that might count:
High Flow Bonez Cat
Cone Filter with Cool Air Channel
Fresh Spark Plugs and Wires
Regular Maintenance
