How to tell if my MC is bad or if it's just the seals?
Hi,
I'm pretty sure I can link all of my braking problems to my MC now, I checked the paint on the frame rail and it is definately chipped off. However, I know that it is a really slow leak, it took a little less than 2 months to empty the resovoir tank. Is there any way to tell whether the MC needs to be replaced, or if it is just the seals under the MC? Should I just go ahead and replace the whole unit? Thanks, Todd

Depends on where it is leaking. If it is from between the resevoir and the master cylinder, use large hose clamps (two of them) to tighten down the resevoir onto the master cylinder. They all leak from there.
If it is leaking out of where the cylinder meets the booster, you need a new master cylinder. Just buy a rebuilt unit, don't waste your time rebuilding your own.
