How to shift a turbo-II

Put in first gear, step on gas peddal, slowly let out clutch, keep gas peddal to floor until warning buzzer sounds, shift up to next gear, repeat until 5th gear is reached, keep foot on the gas. If buzzer stops, down shift.

Actually, my earlier post was kind of a take off on a article in Road and track regarding racing where someone asked when to down shift a rotary and the answer was when the rev buzzer stops going off.

Oh yea and for the record, of the three turbo II's Ive had I never had an engine problem and I like to hit the rev buzzer.

Here is a classic example of a person on this forum randomly being a dick(common) and making other people not want to come here anymore. turbo 2 addict-thanx for your contribution to this thread. Its funny cuz in the original post in this thread it was useless, and the irony of it is your attempt to point this out was both useless and insulting. YOU are the "***/idiot". "everyone on this forum knows how to drive there car" how the **** do you know? especially as you havent been here longer than 33 posts.

Please, the people of those magazines don't know **** about a rotary other than they are these trianglar rotors that rotate around an eccentric shaft. So i wouldn't put to much stock in what R&T says.

Besides if they were telling you that about a racing RX-7, then the engine probably had PP's and the power band on those engines are much higher, something like 8k - 10k.

Why do people insult people with stupid names and ****? So what if this was a stupid thread, doesn't mean you need to call people ******* names. Oh and he meant it as a joke.

Doesn't the powerband drop off quite a bit at 7K on a TII?

Right after 6500 rpm on a S5 TII. I got a dyno to back that up.

you guys aren't getting it. i have said this before. if you save a shift you actually get a better time on the drag strip. my car ran about 100mph which is approx 8000rpm in 3rd gear. but to get there you have to rev each gear to 8000rpm. when you do this your saving a shift which actually reduces your ET.

You'll reduce your ET even further when you make some changes to the car that will allow it actually make power to 8K.

i was running a garret compressor housing on my car. i don't feel a power drop off. hell even with my S5 stock turbo i can rev to 8000 and it just buries the tach.

well my FD gets priority and that means all my money goes to it. having a 10 sec FD and 11 sec TII are the plan. TII is gonna have a new ported motor, haltech, t04 turbo kit, new fuel system, roll cage, yadda yadda. just gonna take some time. i'll just have to drive my FD in the mean time what a shame
