You got a pretty nice car there man. where do you live in louisiana? I had no idea there was people in louisiana with bnr turbos I would spend probably about 4.5k for it since its an s5. I would spend a bit more if you where to fix the synchros and the master cylinder and exhaust leak. all the other stuff is nit picky.

1,500 to 2,000 then buy another one with a blown motor for 500 to 1,000 with a good body and interior and swap the motor and other mods into that one then you have a pretty nice tII for 2,000 to 3,000

you can't be serious? Thats a nice TII minus the few little problems. Really if I where you I would get those problems taken care of and sell it after that. s5's tII's go for way more than 1.5-2k. Especially ones that have a nice rebuilt engine and nice aftermarket turbo and the supporting mods.
used tII trany goes for a couple hundred bucks, you can get a descent cat back for a pretty damn good price and the master cylinder is cheap on ebay.

I'm from Lake Charles, kinda far from slidell Anyways a good exhaust system can cost some cash however there are plenty of alternatives. Like for instance there is always slightly used exhaust systems on the forsale section of this forum and also there is a single exhaust system on ebay that is a pretty damn good price. I would start checking places like
www.corksport.com
www.racingbeat.com
www.rx7store.net
www.rx7.com
the list goes on. basically it all boils down to what you want. do a search for the differant exhaust systems and how much they cost and what is in your budget etc... basically they can range from about 300 to about 1200 depending on what you want. Anyways nice to see another rotary guy from way down south

That many mods would kinda scare me away, but if its running well.... I paid about $4k for an 89 TII much closer to stock than yours, that runs good. No brake problems or transmission problems, but it too has a slacker paint job (doesn't look awful, but not great) and cheap audio.

well, i don't know if you would consider it running good. it takes increasingly longer every week to get started in the mornings. it takes like three cranks every morning to get it to stay started. it revs to about 3k then comes down till it dies. don't know what that's all about. also, the idle is really low...like 3-400 rpms and varies when the a/c is on.
are you talking to me?

SEe, here is where it all starts to go wrong. You mentioned all those mods and a fresh rebuild. Then you state the problems that you can SEE. All the problems are synonymous with "half assin it" (NOT you rx7ryan, the previous owner.) Those are the kinda problems associated whith what you would call a "kid car". All kinds of mods attached incorrectly and then you gotta come in behind and try to clean out the mess.
Kid car=low purchase price. $500-$750

that IS what i feel like, but I don't think that it was the previous owner. I think it was the one before him. some puerto rican guy. he is the one that did most of the work on the car. not actually him, but a mechanic. except for the sound system and other minor things. I do feel like i have to clean it up though. i think that it hasn't been tuned at all. he didn't have a boost controller or A/F gauge in it. just a boost gauge.

That is why the term "un-molested" is being used more and more. Its hard to find and granny car that is un-molested/ I t is better to start with clean slate than to try to fix a car that is all half assed. I feel bad for you. But it may not be all bad and you'll have fun learning the ins and outs of your car

I bought my car from a guy in baton rouge that was in the army and he loved to rig everything! I ended up stripping everything and redoing it all. It's fun because you get to know your car and you understand what is in it. Instead of just guess what the last guy did. First off I would say to you is do a compression test on the motor. If in fact it is a healthy engine then great! Thats the big thing. After that do some cleaning up like maybe remove the vac rack if you don't care about emissions witch will get rid of all those damn vac lines as well as make sure and fix the exhaust leaks because they can definatley contribute to bad things happening. This is the time you need to make someone elses car your own. Good luck man, it will be fun. ANd just to be curious how much did you pay? Any pics?

Sounds a lot like the TII that I used for my swap. Freshly rebuilt motor, a few mods, bad paint, etc. I would pay $2,000 - $3,000 for an S5 TII in that condition.
Did you get any receipts with the car to prove that the engine was rebuilt? A freshly rebuilt engine shouldn't have to be cranked 3 times to get it started...that could be a sign of low compression or leaky injectors. I would do a compression test if you haven't already. If that checks out, then try to get your injectors cleaned. I would also check for vacuum leaks, check the BAC valve, and reset the TPS...hopefully that will take care of your idle problems.

my car already had the air pump removed so some if not all emissions were removed. what all would have been removed if they removed the air pump? I DO look forward to learning about my car. I love that kind of stuff. I believe that the reason it doesn't start on the first crank is because of an intake leak. the reason i think this is because it was having problems like that before and it turned out to be a hole the size of a fist in the intake tube. A clamp was loose. but it's not that now though. i have to check it out hopefully this weekend when i change out the rear pads. There were receipts for the rebuilt motor and the BNR turbo upgrade. when they do that upgrade, do they use your original or do they use a t3/t4 or something else? because talking to him, i remember him saying t3/t4, but i don't know. also, do they tune the car any when they do that upgrade? I also think that i should reset my TPS...but how do i do that. thanks for all your input and help, guys. I have pics of the car. hondahater, if you want to see them, I can send you pics through your email, just let me know your address.

BNR upgrades use your stock turbine (clipped) and replace the compressor wheel and housing (depending on what stage upgrade you have) with something larger, in your case the stage 2 you have should have a T04B wheel and housing.
Here is a link to the BNR upgrades that rx7store.net sells:
http://www.rx7store.net/index.asp?Pa...S&Category=364
Edit: Your car should definitely be tuned with an upgrade like that, but it is not provided when you purchase the turbo. The previous owner would have to have it tuned on his own. If not, there's a good chance you'll blow your engine. How much boost are you running? I don't see any sort of fuel controller / engine management in your mod list so I would be careful. You may want to look into at least an S-AFC or e-manage, some 720cc secondaries, and a dyno tune to make sure that you are safe.

god, i wish i knew what this guy did to my car. the boost gauge that i have in my car says that it goes up to a little past 1 bar at the most and usually a little over a half. so i guess about 7 or 8 psi usually and 16 psi peak. (the guy said it runs 16 psi) I don't even know what kind of injectors are in it. is that boost about right? this is sounding more and more like a "kid car".
hondahater-i paid $4500 and i'm making payments up to $6500

yeah thats a bit to expensive but oh well as long as the engine is good and the other components are good you have a great base to build your own beast. If this is not a daily driver I would forget everything he did and start over again. Basically do a crap load of searches on this site until you have a pretty damn good understanding about the car and then just start fixing all the crap that he rigged. Hopefully there is no electrical stuff that he rigged in the cabin because the previous owner did a number in my car and I could only fix it so much. Anyways start with the engine:
1. Compression check
2. Find if there are any vac leaks by running the engine and spraying carb cleaner around the engine bay. If the idle increases in a certain location where you sprayed the carb cleaner then you have a good idea where it is comming from.
3. post some pics of your engine bay and I'll let you know if you have the vac rack and what emissions are left. The great thing about louisiana is that there are no emissions so you can yank all that crap and run a couple of new fuel lines and suddenly your car becomes much easier to work on
4. Fix your exhaust leak even if it means getting an exhaust place to patch the holes just as a quick patch job just for now because like I said, an exhaust leak can cause problems.
5. find out what kind of boost controller he has and if it is manual and a piece of crap get a new one but this time spring for an electric one like a profec-b.
6. Get a good used tranny from the forsale section, you can find them for about 150-250 depending on condition.
7. fix the other problems you said in the first post
Just some suggestions. But yeah get us some pics!

well what about the rust? that's a major problem. eventually, if not already, it'll weaken the frame or floorboards. then i got water coming in and everything. i just don't know what i can do about that. the guy said there was absolutely NO rust on more than one occasion. also, i'll be riding down the interstate at about 80 and i go to switch lanes and it's swaying and scaring the crap out of me. this thing's got really bad suspension. they don't usually do that without upgrades do they? ill post pics as soon as i can. hopefully tomorrow. i would give you the name of the member that sold it to me so you can look up the post with the pics in it, but i don't know if that's a good idea. what does a compression check usually cost? anyway, thanks for your help.

compression check is free if you have a piston compression checker. If not it only costs the price of the compression tester. go to www.rotaryresurrection.com and go to the tech section. he has a write up on how to do it. As far as the member goes. Lets hear who it is, I'm kind of curious myself as he was very misleading. I would see maybe if you could get a lawyer after him since he was very misleading. You have his word writen down on this forum what he said so I wouldn't doubt it if you won the case. Rust is a major problem because it will just keep spreading like you said. Only thing I think you can do is cut out the rust and get a body shop to weld in a new piece and get it painted or whatever they do, Don't know cause I'm not body person.
