how much vac should my boost gauge read while cranking

boost gauge is after market. 87 T2
trying to diagnose my starting issues

While cranking not much. The need shoud bounce alittle but that's about it!
When it fires 13-15hg.

thanks guys. yea it was bouncing around 1 psi or so and i was concerned that i may have lost compression or something. all this weird stuff has been happening like my idiot lights not turning on when i turn the key on but the door light or some light is still going. stupid wiring

Pull the plug off the CPU. Find the Yellow wire with the Blue stripe on it. It's on the top row, near the middle of the plug.

Put a ground on that wire. Turn the key to ON. The Idiot lights should all come on. If they do come on, then your problem is the alt relay in the CPU OR the small plug on the back of the alternator is off OR the white/black wire on that alternator plug is open to the CPU.
