how much should it cost to do an engine swap? i need to swap my 91 GXL motor into my GTU. Just needing an idea on price. would it be better to just re-build the GTU?

GTU is an 88 or 89? 89 should bolt right in.

Call some different shops. It should be something like 14 1/2 for an install, so that will give you an idea.

Seeing as brandon's being lazy. The GTU is a 90, the GXL is a 91. And I'm pretty sure he's just talking about stuff that needs to be replaced during the swap ( like gaskets and stuff ). It'll pretty much just be the cost of Oil, Anti-Freeze, and any hoses he breaks during the swap, right?

Just do it at home with some friends!!!!! It is not hard at all!!! A few beers and two friends will do the trick. Learn how to work on your cars so you won't get ripped off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 At the beginning I thought it would be tough, I do my own rebuilding now. Our mechanic does the porting and all the nice stuff

Guys, I AM his friend, and we ARE doing it ourselves. He's asking what should we/ will we need to get so we can do the swap? Anything other than Anti-freeze, Oil, and anything we break?

Probably not a bad idea to do new oil filter and spark plugs.

Don't buy **** unless it has an oil leak. Just antifreeze, oil, and oil filter should be all you need.
