How much fluid does a 87 T2 rear diff take?

How much fluid does a 87 T2 rear diff take?

Hey guys, I am going to pick up my new 87 T2 here in a few hours and one of the first things I am changing is the rear diff fluid with Mobil One synthetic Tranny oil, Does anyone know off hand how much it takes? More then 1 quart? Thanks much for the imput!

It's actually 1.4 quarts (1.3 liters), make sure you have extra because its tough to fill. I would just fill until it starts to come out of the fill plug, then let it level out.

Just suffered through this myself for trans and diff but forgot which was which. Had to buy a 23 and 24 mm socket which are half inch drives. Get both you'll be all set, trans fill is 16mm.

I don't remember a 24.... but a 23 and I think either a 19 or 21 for the diff. undo the top one first!!!!

Mine are square pipe plugs. A hex socket will round them off.

HMMM? I will have to crawl underneath there & check it out. Yes, I have read (and it makes great sense) to open the top first, to make sure you can replace the fluid with new first before draining out the old!
