how much does a fc weight... (not a question)
hey guys, well i went to weight a FC which is being prepped for full drift (will compeat in the US D1), it has no engine, no tranny, no interior, no front and rear bumper guards, any guess to how much this weights?
i currently it weights in at 1390lbs (probally closer to 1380lbs as we stripped out all the glue/gunk/sound deading inside to seam weld the entire car). After he pulls all the windows and replaces them with lexan as well as replaces the hood with a cf ultra light one, it should weight in at just over 1000lbs, perhaps less when he takes the doors off and makes cf ones
BTW: This car will have a S2000 engine/tranny . Don't hate or bitch about this because the engine is already gone/in a trash can some place and the new engine is already on its way. There is no way to put a rotary back in to this car so just forget about it (and to those who say but but but, just stfu cuz its not gonna happen).

its not my car, its kell's car (alhtough i wish i had money for a fc drift car, im stuck with my fd for now ) in anycase, for more pics, http://www.driftsession.com/articles.../kellsfc3s.htm
as for the price of stuff, im not really sure as kell is doing it all, not sure how thick or what kind he is gonna go with.
he is suppose to get some new pics in though so just wait a while for them.

If you really shitcanned the old engine, you just wasted about $150 if it was blown, $300+ if it was still running. They have good core value to rebuilders.

Good luck with the car. Even though you don't want to hear it, you no longer have an RX7.

In anycase, secondly it's still an RX-7! are you a moron or something? god i hate the people which believe in the heart of the car! If a 20B fc is still a RX-7, a S2000 or LS1 or Grandnational fc is still an RX-7. engine swap is an enigne swap no matter what you think so grow up and realise a rotary is not the ultimate engine (infact, i can't believe more people have not swapped their engines out!)
P.S. did you even bother to read the first post? let me repost it for you

you're really not going to get too many pleasant replies here, I'd repost this over on www.torquecentral.com, they respect stuff like this. If I was going to do a hybrid, I probably wouldn't use the monda motor, but to each his own, all seam welded and lightened that would be an incredibly stable car. sounds like alot of fun. good luck to your friend, hope to see pics somewhere about it. I know you don't know alot of the prices, so maybe you could find out or somebody else would know, but how much should it cost to get an FC seam welded? I think that an a cage would make an already awesome handling car so much better. I need to check that out.

oh, he was originally goign to put in a 500hp n/a V6 engine! the thing is that its rumored that in the US D1, he cant use a domestic engine hence he is sticking with an import engine. (this is from the signal auto guys which come here like every year haha, they are friends )
as far as not possible to put a rotary engine back in, he will not, he will rather set it aflame haha well probally not but its not going to have a rotary engine in it. if someone would want to put a rotary engine back in, i guess they could buy a new subframe+engine+tranny but then again, why not just run the 260rwhp s2k engine? i doubt there is anyone stupid enuf to buy it back to revert it back to a rotary just cuz they hate engien swaps which make it faster then stock. And even if they did, he could probally just buy another fc and do the same to it haha

too bad it wont be rotary powered, guess ur friend doesnt know how to tune one right, but whatever. i dont know why he picked an fc chassis, if hes concerned about weight, he should have gotten a first gen and stripped that out. and damn man what up with the attitude ur givin everyone? pissed off about something?

Congratulations, he can build cars. So can a lot of other people. In fact, some even know how to build killer rotories and properly set them up to be fierce competition. That's too much work and money just to dump in a piston engine with a measley 260hp.
It sounds like your "friend" is only trying to cash in on the drift trend by mixing an odd engine/chassis combo and hoping he'll get a lot of coverage. The FC is a classic drift car even though it is nowhere near as easy to drift as a Silvia or Hachi. Maybe with the S2000 engine it will give him more weight in the front which would be beneficial. Anyway it's never been the engine that's limited a FC in drift. It' the steering angles it's capable of.

in anycase, 1500-1800lbs with 260rwhp=fun and probally faster then most of the guys here.

rotary=no torque down low! in anycase, i dont think a s2k has any either but we will see
#23
i know for a fact the s2k has no torque down low, why do u think it has a 9800 rpm rev limit. plus in drifting u dont use low rpms even if u wanted to. imports (japanese)=high rpm for torque

If we are talking about the F20C S2000 engine, it only makes 240 flywheel horsepower and 153ft-lbs at the flywheel, and needs every bit of it's 9000 RPM redline to make it. That engine needs to see some serious revs to make power as it is only a 2.0L.
At a 17% drivetrain loss, we are talking 200 wheel horsepower, 127ft-lbs of torque to wheels. Not very impressive anymore, considering the work it will take to get that engine installed and running.
