well, back when I had my license...$117 month non-owners, my (at the time) 85 RX-7 was under my mom's insurance and I was 16 years old then. Now I lost my license for 1 year for reckless driving 115mph/55mph zone.....in Virginia. im 17 now and will be when the license returns, so who knows insurance, i might get a bike like a honda cbr 600 rr because the insurance is cheap.

No tickets, nothing.

However the car is under my moms policy along with my sister. My sister constantly gets tickets and into accidents and my mothers record isn't so hot either (women ) So I get assbeefed. It was 1600 last year, now it's 2800.

I know, I was suprised the quote was so low. NJ is notorious for having really expensive insurance (at least gas is pretty cheap ). But I only have one minor ticket, no accidents, and I also work for the government so I get a discount for that I think.

I know, I thought it was a pretty good deal! NJ is notorious for high insurance prices (at least we have cheap gas ). But I only have one minor ticket, no accidents, and I work for a government agency which lowers my premium I think.

Get your own insurance policy- chances are it will be cheaper. If your initial quote is NOT cheaper, just remember that it's expensive because yuo have never insured a car before. Get it, pay for 6 months and you should be able to get much much lower rates.

ah yes I had forgot about hte insurance rates on L.I. - yet another reason to never move back

One of the reasons it's so high in N.Y. is the "no fault" insurance that was allowed to become the standard - so if you have an accident both parties insurances goes up - made the insurance companies very happy.

I pay $170/mo, 20, Dallas TX. Clean record.

However, I'm on a "family plan" even though I no longer live at home, so I'm insured to drive the following:

'04 RX-8 (full coverage)
'02 Suburban (full coverage)
'94 Accord (Liability)
'90 RX-7 (liability)
'98 Blazer (liability)
