I paid 1500 for a 91 n/a from my son with 115,000 on it
last year. rebuilding engine coolant rings are starting to go. cannot wait

Mason Rx7 04-17-04 12:55 PM

I paid 2 grand for a 87 N/A with 91k miles, borbet rims, upgraded suspension, pioneer system, and great interior and exterior. It was a weekend car and wan't ever driven during the winter... Four days after I got it I was rear-ended by a Jeep with a brush guard on the front.... It is totaled... The damage doesn't look too bad but the rear hatch part was crumpled and needs to be replaced. I will prolly end up getting a new bumper and taillights, painting it and having the body shop smooth out the rumples as best as possible... Sigh...

autopilot 04-17-04 05:04 PM

I spent $2600 for my 86 about five years ago, but I just put $3000 into it, so. . . . Maybe we should have a poll that says " How much have you PAID?"

import_rican 04-24-04 10:02 PM

$400 bucks for my 88 vert... apex seals gone but who cares! I'm dropping a TII engine and drive train in to it!

RotaryWeaponSE7EN 04-25-04 10:31 AM

I paid 4000 for my 86 GXL, that was 5yrs ago and it had 56K on it.

I just paid 1200 for my TII.

rxcyprus7 04-25-04 01:41 PM

i paid 4000 CY pounds for my NA with a rebuild, an extra TII engine and an extra set of 17 inch wheels. Thats roughly 7000 dollars US. Its not cheep by some standards but well cheap out her. Then i paid 900 USDollars for a somplete front half TII complete with gearbox and engine. Only prob was the guy that imported it for me disconnected the ECU and forgot where he put it. He shipped me one from Japan but it turned out to be for a 97 3rd Gen. Now i need to get rid of that.! so i had to pay another grand for a Haltech. But it off someone on this forum. Now i need the rebuild done, porting, and install. God willing it;ll be ready by fall!!

CelticRx7 04-27-04 02:00 AM

$2300, the first time I bought my 88T2. I have purchased this same car four times.. I love it...

MazdaRx7Racer4Life 04-27-04 12:59 PM

I paid $3200 for my 88TII and 1800 for a rebuild + streetport + labor with all atkins parts.

Gators 05-21-04 07:39 PM

Hey guys, check this out. I paid $500.00 for mine. It is a 1989 with 62,000 original miles. I purchased it from the original owner, an elderly couple. They told me the engine was shot. The body and interior were immaculate. I thought that I would get it and put a new engine in it. It sat in my driveway for 4 months. One day I was bored so I went outside to look at the engine. I had not tried to start the car. I was curious, so I pulled the plugs, put in new ones and guess what happened - it started. I took the car and had it tuned up and it runs very strong. What a deal! I am still in shock.

flamin-roids 05-21-04 07:48 PM

Bought my first RX-7 for $300. IT was a 1981 GXL that despite its shitty condition was fast! Then got a 1989 GXL that was in immaculate condition for $1000. Then I bought a 1987 TII for $100 for parts.

Wizz 05-21-04 11:57 PM

87' 97K on the body $2500 with dealer installed engine 9K miles ago. $338 to rebuild the turbo. And a set of spark plugs. Total less than $3K. And the car looks like it has a 1/4 of that mileage.

Kornate1 05-23-04 09:18 AM

I'm workin on number 3, first one was '83 NA for $300, second one traded a sh*tty z28 for,it is a '87 GXL number 3 is a '88 GXL that i just paid $500 for

evalutionr 05-24-04 01:48 AM

I just had to buy a starter for my friend for his 91 MR2 Turbo and then he gave me the pink slip, yeah what a friend. still needs some repairs like rewire the pasenger side window, put a radio, new antenna, new turbo gasket and new apex seal or oil seal

Its an 87 Turbo II

lowlude34 05-24-04 01:53 AM

I bought mine for $1000 with a j-spec engine uninstalled. So far I’ve put in another $1500 to try and get her running, so far unsuccessful. It would have been up and running a long time ago if the guy who I bought the car and engine from didn't decide to dismantle the parts off the engine and decide to throw them away. It sucks hunting for miscellaneous parts, including expensive. I didn’t believe it would be such a money pit.

kurt 05-24-04 06:56 AM

i got mine for 1 grand, no engine and no gearbox, needs a paint too. Im from new zealand tho, so good price for it here really. As they sell for 6 to 7 grand for a standard 13b turbo s4. Cost me less to put a engine in myself.

rotor_convert 05-24-04 10:17 AM

too much... 5g's. right off of break-in period for rebuild street port engine. majestics turbo rebuild with hybrid compressor wheel. lightened flywheel. 6-puck clutch. geforce ecu. removed air pump. turbo xs boost controller (manual 2 stage). fuel pump switch on steering column (nifty... very). fd fuel pump.

body wasn't the greatest thing. but it also came with a kit. eh, maybe i'll use it

DylanShupe 05-24-04 03:50 PM

I payed 1800 for my 87 TII. Body was in good shape, interior was good, 64K original miles, one owner...then I put in another 1600 to fix the damned thing after I had a bad rear caliper, 2 bad rear struts, stuff like that

RXuser 05-24-04 06:14 PM

I got an N/A 88 for free

mrb455 05-24-04 08:21 PM

Paid 2000 for 88 GXL w/ 30k on new motor, perfect body, good interior. new tires.

blacksailsxx 06-13-04 08:14 PM

my n/a cost 1000, when i bought it, it had some pretty severe body damage. The guy I bought it from (a friend of mine) was drunk and spun out in the rain...hit a light pole and really screwed up the back end. car had 103,000 on it. engine went 4000 miles later though.

suparobb 06-20-04 08:37 PM

paid 2900 hundred for a bone stock 89 tII with a near excellent body and running engine with 148k miles on original motor. perfectly maintained. broken power attenae tho >_<

do you guys think i paid too much???

z4csl428 06-20-04 10:46 PM

2900 hundred
well i dont know exactly how much that is in US currency but i wouldve paid 2900. lots of miles on a T2 engine but with the body in excellent condition like you say, its worth it...

excitingleopard 06-23-04 03:34 PM

$1400 for my 88 GTU that had a bad but functional paint job.

88turbotime 06-23-04 04:46 PM

$3600
88 turbo II
runs/looks great, only thing mentionable is slight wear on the leather of driver seat.
EVERYTHING down to the factory pioneer cd player was original.

BLKTOPTRVL 06-27-04 06:39 PM

$21,400.00 right off the truck. (Vert)

inflatablepets 06-27-04 08:20 PM

500 for 89 GTU Bad motor. Bad paint, Excellent interior.

baddassTurboII 06-28-04 08:50 AM

I bought my 87 for 400.00, the guy thought the transmission was bad and that the motor was blown.I had to buy a intercooler, airflow meter, and a slave cylinder and alternater.I guess the guy was selling parts off of it.Anyway to make a long story short the car needs a fu el pump, but it did start with stater fluid. So I think I got a good deal:D.

turbotboz 07-08-04 10:24 AM

88 turbo AE

i purchased my 88ae t2 for 1500$. it has it share of problems...tires, exhaust leak, springs.... but interior is in great condition. body is also in great condition other than one fender. BUT can u say....rebuilt motor with 4200 miles on it! have all receipts totaling more then 6k in repairs. the guy needed to get rid of it to pay for child support and bills. came with Apexi BOV, HKS intake, and stage 3 centerforce clutch. not bad deal i'd say. :)b what do u guys think?

siamiam 07-08-04 11:00 AM

i paid $1400 a month and a half ago for a 90 GTU, great body and interior except the previous owner decided to paint every thing he could take off yellow inside.

runs decent, could be better, check engine light is on and wont pass emmisions test because of it :(

WallyHojo 07-08-04 10:23 PM

I bought my TII for 4500 with a rebuilt motor that had about 5 thousand miles on it. The body has about 125,000 miles now. When i bought it, it was about 115,000.

There are a few door dings, but nothing to complain about. The body is great condition, esp the interior, wow.

MAHIIGUN 07-10-04 02:07 PM

gnome311 07-16-04 12:27 AM

I got my 88 GXL for $450, was missing pass window, and oil line leak.
I replaced the oil lines for $300, and recently replaced the clutch for $130.
Car only had one ding in front fender.

After putting 15k on the car, the freeze plug in the front housing went out. And I've been working on that for a few weeks, just got the parts in today.........

here's the progress of that work.....

WanganRunner 07-16-04 06:25 AM

I'll likely be buying an excellent condition 91 TII for $1500 from a guy near me. 189k miles though, which is a lot, but only like 40k since new OEM engine.

I had really been jonesing for a 10AE that I saw on autotrader, full RE kit, projectors, RE Super G wing, like 325ps, guy only wanted $8800 for it but shipping woulda killed me.

I'm always hearing about people getting free cars, where'ya gettin' em from? I'll take a free FC, I don't care what the hell is wrong with it (aside from being stolen or something).

MARTIN 07-16-04 07:53 AM

I paid 2.4k for an 88 vert backin 99.... Everything worked, and was in perfect condition. I since added a 13bt motor with a full exhaust, and FMIC coming soon.. I'd say I spent about $3k for a 13bt motor, rebuild kit, full 3" turbo back exhaust, and FMIC... I still need some interior pieces.... Anyways I still need a new top, rims, and a good paint job. Its been sitting for 2 years in my garage and its got dings all over the place....
