80-90 bucks for a new water pump. its sort of complicated. its an assembly. theres your water pump on the front of the engine, then a water pump housing, and then the engine. so youll need 2 separate gaskets, not just the one that is supplied w/ the pump. i got my pump from Napa, new in the box.

i think you should stick w/ the rotary engine. its pretty sweet. people feel REALLY dumb after they race you, lose, and then find out you only have a 1.3 LITER!!! its cool.

if you got any questions, let me know, i just replaced the pump on my 88 SE. so i know everything u need to do.

A local guy out here put a Chevy FI V8 in an 87 RX-7. Not a bad job - he could close the hood. It was fast, but it handled like a 50's pickup truck.

50s pick up eh? i dont think it would be a good idea to exchange perfect 50/50 weight distribution and good handling just to have a V8.

u want something thats good for straight line acceleration, pick up a stang, or camaro.

loss of 50/50 weight?? from all i've read with a small block in there it is the same wieght almost exactly only like 50 pounds off. i just figured it would be easier to drop in a v8 and it would be more reliable....but i could be wrong

lol...are u kidding?

for some reason, i SERIOUSLY cant belive that a chevy 350 is the Same weight as a 13B...i mean, the 13B has WAY less parts, made of more aluminum parts, and is way smaller... now maybe if ur talkin LS1 350, all aluminum engine, then that might be a diff story. but, LS1 swaps into rx7s are sort of rare these days.
