can you say 2nd gen? sorry... didn't want to post here again, but seriously, read up on your ****. The second gens had crankwalk probs. first gen had alot less problems.

edit: also, since when are Rx7 Turbos reliable? I'd much rather have a 1st gen eclipse with parts available than my current TII that can't run right for ****

I was just wondering if with my current and soon-to-have mods if I can run in the 12s. I plan to get a boost controller too and set my boost to like 15psi. What will the CAR be capable of do you think?

I'm sorry but I work at a DSM dealership and see all types of Eclipses in for transmission and clutch work. The motors also like to break timing belts, which in turn breaks the motor. You have to replace them every 60k. The motors seem really solid though, it just seems like it's the trannys and the AWD systems that cannot take the abuse..

Don't get me wrong, they are VERY reliable, if you don't do anything to them. But if you do mod them do it right because they are sensitive.

thank you for adding the "modify them right " part. Like I said, I plan on building this after college and it's not going to be a daily driver. I don't even trust my TII to leave a driveway. Granted, if a TII is taken care of, it might be a pretty reliable car as well, but some of the obscure problems I've had with this car just really turn me off to the idea.

Yeah, I had a 91 awd talon. That thing would run 11.98, but it ate 6 trannies in 1.5 years....not a good thing. I'm RWD for life now.
