I have a 3" racing beat downpipe, custom 3" cat, and a Greddy power extreme. My car is pretty quiet just humming around town or on the highway, but stand on it at higher rpms, and everyone knows im coming. Its great because the sound isnt all honda ricey, sounds really deep and smooth. Its an 89 Turbo by the way....

How safe is my engine With this exhaust setup that i have?
Downpipe, Midpipe and catback, everything is high flow no cats, it's all open.

I have a RB header and MP, no cats, some cheesy catback,. It is pretty loud. But it doesnt help that I intentionaly drive through parking lots revving the engine and spitting flames to set off car alarms

The flange that connects the stock downpipe to the short straight pipe broke so the straight pipe hangs like 2" - 3" lower than the downpipe. It is loud as hell. I have to drive with the radio turned all the way up just to drown out the noise.

on my T2 i have downpipe/mid pipe/no cats/RP 50mm catback...its not too loud...a nice hum, but not annoying at all. if i rev it out it certainly gets louder but the whoosing from the turbo usually gets my attention first and i don't pay too much attention to the exhaust...
i'm planning on swapping my N1 catback off my n/a and putting it on the T2. with that in place it should be a bit louder

I still didn't get the answer. Is this setup safe. All of you that had this on your car for some time where everything is open no cats, how safe is that? Would it be better to put stock downpipe and catalyc converter back or is this better?

I have all of that except injectors, they are stock. As you can see from my signature. As long as it's safe for my engine i'll leave it on then.
Thanks for response.

if you want you can port the hell outta your wastegate to significantly cut down the boost and then turn it up to where you feel safe via the boost controller...

my 88 tii is pretty reasonable except when at high rpms. it has a deep rumble, not ricey
my 86 n/a is extremley loud, afraid to drive it at night. it might be a little ricey, but i get more people wanting to race it then my tii and i've only had it for 2 days

even though i have the racing beat presilencer its REALLY LOUD!!!
the reason is because i went single 2.5" pipe that spits out the driver side since the presilencer is already slanted to the left. there are no cats and the muffler is a straight through dynomax!

Boosting FC- one thing I would personally worry about w/ your setup even if everything is set up for enough fuel is that when you let the stock turbo boost up to 14psi or so it is really heating up the air charge as it compresses it as it is "overspinning"-operating way above the rpm it was designed to be efficient at. This heightens the chance of detonation. If you port out the wastegate alot it will lower your boost to a reasonable level, but you will still have the danger of boost creep-cold night near redline in 5th can do it...

Are you sure about your boost? I have heard Autometer guages are not accurate... My set-up was 87TII-Walbro+rewire+89 alternator, FCD, TID, RB downpipe+presilencer+stock catback, Greddy electronic boost+A/F ratio guages, and a hugely ported wastegate. Boost above 2000rpm at 7psi always except under extreme load- then it would creep up to 12psi (like nearing redline in 5th). Your turbo may be ailing as well?

actually i just installed a new catback.
so overall i have a 3 inch mindtrain downpipe, gutted cat, 3 inch Y pipe, so straight through Sebring mufflers.
Its all welded in.
Overall its much louder then my old HKS 60mm i had on.
from idle to about 3k, depending on how much gas i give it, its a loud deep wine(great sound), after that the sound transforms into a chainsaw on steroids all the way up to redline.
VERY COOL.
