How long to u have to run a rebuilt engine in for?

Hi im rebuilding my engine soon with 3mm parts. Turbo 2 motor. New everything with new rotor bearings, seals etc...
How long do i have to run the engine in before i can start going hard?
And when should i do oil changes in the run in process?

Ive heard 500 miles, some say a 1000. Changing oil after the first 500 or so and also keeping a VERY watchful eye on consumption of oil in this period, very common to use a lot of oil... Cuz most the parts are dry..

My 12A Sp break-in went as follows:

First 500 miles-under 4K RPM with variable speed... no cruise control.
Change oil and filter
next 500 miles-under 6K RPM variable speed
next 1000 miles-under 7K RPM variable speed
change oil and filter

Check oil often. After 2k miles, you are good to go, according to Hayes Rotary. Others will have their own break-in, but that was my procedure.

Good luck
