Bought my GXL in September 2001 from my local salvage yard as a "Parts Car." If I hadn't DRIVEN the damned thing, I could have stripped it for its drivetrain for my Spitfire. A second parts car, $1800, and a few hundred hours' work later and I should be able to get it smogged and licensed next week. (Whew!)

My current 7 I've had for more than 3 years now, and my previous one for 10 mos. In between I had a Mustank, about 2 1/2 years. Getting back into a rotary just felt more like home. Not sure exactly why.

I had my GTUs for exactly one year. I registered it on July 15, 2002, and sold it July 15, 2003.
Bought an MR2 and I couldn't be happier. Bye, bye rotary! Won't be missing you!

I've had the anniversay since Feb. 2001. It's a love and hate relationship, but will never part with her. Plan to get couple of more.
The car actually opened my eyes and realize my true calling. Wrench-head. So dropped outta college and signed up at an automotive tech. school. I **** you not. Two motors and a turbo later, I still love her. Can't wait to get her back on the road. RXECRET7.com is sending out my parts today. 2wks, I should have her running.

I've had my 88 N/A for a little over 10 years, it had 32,000 miles on it when I bought it (for $7,000)and now it has 191,000 on it. The motor, tranny and rearend are all original including the apex seals!!! The only things I've had to replace are the starter, clutch, alternator, radiator, battery and last but not least, lot's of brake pads.... The coolest thing about all this is, my car still starts every day and still kicks *** when you give it gas!!!

5 years now have gone by after buying it for 60 bucks in a salvage yard. Plan to keep it for life and experiment with various sources of power as they become available, as the rotary was locked up at the time of purchase. It may even see another rotary one day, should one present itself at the right price.

I bought my 1990 GTU with 8,000 miles in November of 1995; it now has 115,000 and has seen about 15 U.S. States and both oceans. The original engine was replaced with a street ported rebuild with 3mm apex seals at 89,000. Quite a few people scoffed when I told them I was putting a $2500 engine into a $2500 car. I don't regret it though...

It's been in the family since my father bought it back in '87 (he got it used). I have been driving it since I got my liscense, so I have been driving her for about 2 years (she has been sitting with a broken tranny for the past year).

I just purchased my second FC.. I used to own a 87' SE ten years ago that got taken out by a Ford Ranger.. I tried the other car thing but wasn't ever the same.. So I vowed to myself my next car would be 86-91.. As fate would have it I found it.. A 88' GXL in good condition.. I will have it for life unless it gets taken out by another Ford Ranger??
