How importand is the shape of the port?

My question is if you use the racing beat porting templates it says you have to determine the shape beyond the scribed line. How important is it to get that perfect. How much better would the port be if you went with someone like Rob at Pineapple racing? Is this something that is best left up to the pros??

I understand you answer but give me your opinion on exactly why you feel it should be left up to the pros.

The port shape on the rotor housing side is probably about 10% of the total "port job".&nbsp The contouring behind that is probably what makes most of the power gains.

The "pros" all got their tricks.&nbsp Mines are - get rid of all the ridges and rough castings, "knife-edge" the "back" edge of the port, and my Stage II ports go as far as backfilling and recontouring the "pocket" for more efficient air flow.
