How hard is Wolf 3D to install?

I am thinking about different ecu-upgrade paths since i now have a bigger turbo. Still running stock IC and injecotrs, but should upgrade that to. How difficult is it to install Wolf 3D or Haltec on a T2 really? I belive that a Haltech is a nightmare with all sensors and wires, but i hope i am wrong. I no nothing about electronics, bare in mind.
AEM management system, is that more easy?

Haltech
People say that the flying lead harness (nothing connected, just wires) is better than the terminated harness, because quite frankly. it comes undone and isnt done good. Also you'll have alot of slack in your wires. Which is why people prefer to wire their own.
But now K2RD is offering plug and play harnesses. So I guess you can plug it into the ECU's harness as it is. I dunno if It's an adapter or what.
I think I saw them mentioned for like $65. They have them for both series of FC's.

Wolf 3d
I have no idea. Try asking in the ECU forum. There is a Haltech specific part, but none for the wolf yet. I know Evil Aviator is going to use one, so is BOOSTD7. The Wolf 4 just came out. I'm not sure if they ever got the programming compatability fixed. It wouldn't work with Windows NT operating systems (NT, Win2k, WinMe, WinXP) on account of a programmer getting injured.

Haltechs are DOS based. Which means you have to adjust the settings in DOS. I've used the demo, but can't get the demo for Wolf to work on account of me running Win2k.

The new Wolf3D 4.0 comes with a flying lead harness. It's not too difficult to install as long as you know how to make quality electrical connections (no bubble gum ). The Haltech or non-PNP AEM would require pretty much the same installation effort. A PNP AEM would be easier, but so far the 2Gen is not supported in PNP format. Personally, I would rather go through a little more effort and replace those old crusty OEM EMS wires and connectors with new ones, but to each his own.

The Wolf3D 4.0 software is not on the market yet, so I don't know what kind of compatibility it will have. The old 3.x software ran with Win 95 and 98.

I'm sure that downloadable 4.0 manuals and maps will be on the Wolf website soon. Below is a link where you can download the old 3.x software and installation manual. The new 4.0 has two revised manuals which are much better than the old 3.x manual, but the installation is pretty much the same.

What are your personal opinions of the Haltech vs. the wolf3d vs. the AEM? I will be getting one of those three within a few months for my FB. I have been leaning more towards the wolf3d due to being able to pretty easily swap between cars(I want to use it in my FC too, with just an extra harness).

First of all, I think that most every ECU on the market could be swapped between cars if you have a spare wiring harness. The only advantage that the Wolf has is the memory cartridge which you could use to swap engine maps without the bother of hooking up a laptop. BTW, the Wolf memory cartridge loads a new map in about 2 seconds. I think that all of these look like good products, but you will have to review the features yourself to see what suits you best.

Haltech E6K - It works, it works well (except for the onboard boost control), you can buy it now, and you can get support throughout the world.

Wolf3D 4.0 - The first 10 units were sent out to select US distributors and tuners last week, but there is still no word on the software. It is built very well, and it has a lot of great features, but there is no way for me to honestly compare it to other EMS units until the software arrives. Hehehe, it was built to look really slick like those competition stereo compenents at car shows, so the Wolf wins the "rice" category in this comparison if nothing else.

AEM Race - Much like the new Wolf, this sounds like a great EMS, but it is not yet on the market.

You know what'd be cool, if you had a 3 way switch hooked up to computer. have mild street (maybe for emissions ;-) ), aggressive street, and race
That way you just put err in neutral and flick a switch. although the memory card thing doesnt look like too much of a problem. I'd like to just yank the memory card out while driving ;-P

How about this:
1) Tune your Wolf EMS for "street" driving and "race" driving, and save each map.
2) Load the "street" map into the EMS, and then remove the memory cartridge. Yes, it works without the cartridge installed.
3) Attach the "race" map memory cartridge, but do not load it yet.
4) Drive around town in economy mode, and if a Honda ricer wants to race you at a light, then all you need to do is pick up the hand controller and load that "race" map, and within seconds you are ready to kick his tail.

This was a standard benefit of the old Wolf EMS, and the new one can do the same thing. It's not as good as your 3-way switch idea, but it's a really nice feature. Oh yeah, and leave your laptop at home where it belongs.

so.....Evil......how is the Wolf system as far as initial install? I really want to ditch the factory AFM, because I know this is a severe bottleneck on these cars. Also, how did the whole tuning process go? Thanks for the info.
