i think its a good question.
when i was younger, i thought flames were so cool, but only later did i realize that there is a real reason that race cars shoot flames, and street cars (usually) dont. but i still think it looks cool. its a legitamate question, plus, if he has the money to fix it, let him shoot flames all he wants. give him anwsers about flames, not flamming anwsers!

My first engine used to back fire any time over 5000 rpm, but now I replaced it with another used engine and it doesnt any more. I really miss it also, use to sound like a shotgun going off if I really popped the gas on shifts.... I have no clue why its gone now. :0(

one time when i installed my corksport catback, i was driving it around at it would backfire, but nothing flamboant. then i stopped at a redlight next to a park. there where some kids playing and it didnt bother me or even enter my mind. so i reved it to the sky and all of a sudden. KABOOM!!! loud as **** and a 4 foot flame. next thing i knew, all the lil kids where crying and the parents where picking up their kids from the ground and glaring at me. im a bastard, im going to hell, but, it was funny.

take gasoline container.......pour on top of car and inside.............Open rear hatch, get inside car, close garage door, bring your car to redline and just tap the gas from 7K to redline....count the pops.....when you hear a HUGE POP your see a fireball.
My friend's NA does it when shifting at redline on his RB presilencer and catback on stock header/cat.
My fiancee's did it at shifting on RB header and N1 duals ( doesn't do it with out current HKS catback)
My TII did it when I tapped on the gas from 7K to redline.............I love doing it to the ******* TAILGATING ME AT NIGHT.........BEST WAS TO MAKE HIM GET OFF YOUR ***.

I think mines running rich, because i hear it, except my exhaust is broke so it's doing it underneath the car somewhere, it's broken right before the main cat, i dont do it intentionally though.
My friend told me when he advanced his ignition timing when he had his F it did it more too.

Do what Slpin said.
You disable the tps so when you let off the pedal the ECU does not cut fuel, which is a plus in your case.
Also disable the anti afterburn valve in the ACV, it does what it's name implys.
And hurry up and do it. There's not nearly enough scrap cars in the wrecking yards to pick parts off.

I'm running extremely rich (140miles out of a full 100% highway tank) and a RB turbo-back exhaust (no cat).
I backfire quite often
Yes, I'm trying to track down the mileage issue.
