How to fix jamming power window

OK, I have an '87 GXL with power windows, The driver's side sticks pretty badly on the way up - it goes down smoothly, but won't raise all the way, getting stuck before halfway up. I have to pull it up with my hands as I pull up the switch, and kind of horse it up. Needless to say, I don't lower it often.

I assume some part of the assembly that holds the glass is warped or rusted, and maybe has spread out causing the jam. How hard is it to remove the inner door panel, and how hard is it to get at the parts that might be causing the jam? Anyone know of any posts or on-line help pages that might show how to do this, or at least what the inner door looks like?

I searched to no avail on terms like window jam, stuck, etc.

Thanks!

The fix is actually pretty easy. The window mechanism is cable with large nylon ***** on it, and the motor has a paddle that moves them in one direction or another. Typically the cable stretches over time. So, roll the window down, then take the door panel off. Then you need a crimping tool and copper cable crimping thingy (techinal term lost somewhere, lol). Remove the plastic tube from around the cable. Pull the ***** tight towards the motor, crimp the copper piece onto the cable tightly against the nylon *****. Coat the ***** in silicone spray or white lithium grease and replace the tube. Then spray the window tracks (felt moulding/weatherstriping the window rides in) with silicone spray. Replace the door panel and enjoy.

I've never actually seen one with manual windows apart, so I don't know if it is the same (***** on cable), but spraying the silicone spray on the weatherstriping that the windows ride inside will help immensely by keeping it from sticking.

Hope this helps,
Vince
