z4csI428 hey prove me wrong dont call any body a lier inless you got proof to back it up. ideas and i thinks dont cut in the real world, so unless u got actual proof i didnt hey a hill, rotary, open road, it could happen and it did so shut the f... up k
Hey ive said one ****** thing, i dont think you made it to 145. and what do you mean proof how in the hell am i gonna prove you wrong dipshit?
for one you said "in 5th of course" which tells me you think 5th gear is gonna go faster, if you went to 145 in 4th then shifted to 5th it makes a little more sense, and 145 is doin a little more than pushin it for a 88 with a exhaust and cone....go tell your ricer "my car is the fastest on earth bc of my APC exhaust and intimidator cone filter" stories somewhere else...

and also....

We can't prove you are wrong and you can't prove you are right. If you saw 145mph on your speedo you could have been going around 130mph in reality but I really don't care if you are right or wrong. Top speed discussion is a delicate subject around these parts. Just don't get pissed if you get some criticism.

It just seems almost impossible for a S4 N/A to reach 145mph. We're not calling you a liar for believing that you were going 145 but its almost impossible. With a TII trans and 3.90 rear end and maybe 40 more hp with good tires 145 would be somewhat possible.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

Proof time!

5000rpm, with a .711 5th gear to a 4.1 rear-end yields 122mph with 205/55R15. Any questions?

Your tach is probably more closesly correct than your speed-o. You were probably doing about 120 (as almost everyone in this thread has told you already)

this topic has been beaten to death, but again as far as i know i hold the record on this board for topping out my fc around 165ish at around 6k rpm 5th gear in north california. The front tires were rated for 120mph ... and i got scared. But the car was still pulling, and it was scary as ****.

91 t2 .. with some mods

English would really make understanding what you're saying a bit easier. However, it's just common math and calculators to figure out the actual RPM speed vs MPH based upon tire size, and gearing. And since the RPM's generally read *HIGHER* than they actually are, and they say you were doing 120mph, well, chances are you were doing a bit less. But this is the most accurate way. The speedometer isn't designed to be accurate at that speed. It starts to get off expotentialy, thus why it's off by so much. And uhm, hate to burst your bubble SideWindeRx7, but 6K rpm in 5th gear is NOT 160.

sorry to burst your bubble sonicrat, but i have it on video, i was racing an sl55 amg ... around 130 i put the camera on my seat, but you can hear me announce the speed ... so honestly, dont give me that ****. The speedo was pegged at 160 while the rpm's continued to climb. Then again, you are some idiot over the internet that thinks he knows all there is to know about automobiles. So there is no point in arguing with you, if you dont believe me, dont say anything.

I've got a challenge for you. The fastest I've ever thought I was going was 137mph. So what is 5800rpm in 4th gear on a S5 auto trans with a 3.90 rear end?

With stock tires on a S5 TII, 6K in 5th is about 145mph. You'd need some 19" rims to pull that off (not to mention they be 245/55 or something similar)

youre just the expert arent you sonic! With all that knowledge you should be out building lemans super cars, not sitting on the internet trying to build up a reputation that exceeds your over-glorified self image in reality ...

You can't argue math. And a video doesn't prove a god damned thing. The whole point we've been making is the SPEEDOMETER IS NOT ACCURATE. I've driven my N/A GTUs past the 160 mark on the speedometer, but I sure as **** wasn't doing 160! Like I said, you'd need 19" rims with a 55 tire to pull off 6k @ 165.

142mph if it was in 4th gear.
102 if it was in 3rd.

The 3rd gear sounds about right but 142? How do you figure these things and is 142 even realistic? I was about a notch below 140mph but I **** myself and had to pull over. What formula do you use? I mean is a S5 auto even capible of breaking 140?

Sonic, honestly you’re not worth my time posting to you. But I’m going to say this, once ...

I KNOW factory speedometers are inaccurate to a certain degree. Fact is, when calibrated properly, they ARE accurate within a very small tolerance.

My speedometer is calibrated and works properly. Maybe because you were cruising a busted up NA 80's car with a broken speedo doesn’t mean my speedometer doesn’t work. You can sit and do the math all day long, but even you said it, and emphasized it, the numbers ARENT exact. Now if you are trying to tell me that you are doing math with inaccurate numbers, well then I can throw that right back at you and tear your whole argument to nothing.

I have been building rx7's for about 5 years ... believe me when I say I know these tid bit facts you are trying to sputter out at me. Believe it or not ... either way, it wont change the fact you need to get a life.

this is why respectable rotary owners and builders don’t frequent message boards, its because ******** like you jump to conclusions and think they know everything, then attack you. Learn this, and learn a few more things about life ... grow up.
