Take out key, and let the turbo timer cut it off as I walk away from the car.

Get out a 10lb sledgehammer and whack the **** out of the engine, but carefully, concentrating on the throttle assembly and pulleys... after about 10min. of hammering it usually shuts off... if that doesn't work, thermite does the trick in a pinch.

You guys are just wasting gas. You're not doing anything to help your water-cooled turbo.

park your car in a bad area in town, run really fast away from the car and let ppl see you left the keys inside, sit in it start pulling out, immediately grab any sharp object or anything more the 3 lbs and run back to your car, open your diver side door proceed to shanking or knock them in the mouth a few times, reach for pockets and confiscate wallet and belongings jump back into your car and start to drive home casually ( over the speed limit not recommended ) park your car in your garage or throw a tarp over. run inside to your computer room pull out suspects wallet and proceed searching for credit card, after log on your desktop or laptop computer, goto ebay or any rx7 mailorder site and buy yourself a damn turbo timer and the rest get a paint job, new sunroof, door handle, 2 stroke and full tank of gas ( get premium mr.big pimpin). repeat 5 - 8 times to get that t60-1 turbo kit you've always wanted

You guys are dumb, all you have to do is, this is for "WARMING UP" and "SHUTTING OFF"... First get an autostarter, Second auto shutter... When warming up.. Simply yell at your "girlfriends name" and say "START THE CAR" therefore you can shower, eat, do whatever you need to, while your car is warming up.... 2nd.. When shutting off... Get off the car.. make sure u dont lock the doors.. go inside, and yell at your girlfriends name and tell her YOUR HOME and to shut off the car.. Its the easy!! but its expensive... so i'd look for a really good deal on them...

This thread makes me sad. Get in, start the car and drive off. We're not talking rocket science.

Get home, turn the car off and go inside. Once again, not rocket science.

Turning ignition off.

GEEZ,
Isn't starting the car and turning it off part of the Drivers License Test?
Maybe everyone should stay away from the state of Washington if this is what they let cruise their roads! Please somebody sneak up and lock this guy and his car in an air tight garage. I wonder how this guy functions in the real world. He should definitely be in the (DarwinAwards.com) site. The gene pool is overloaded at this time.
Oh yeah. By the way, "Here's your sign!"
The only question I have pertaining to His Stupid Question is, "Where do you put the KEY to turn his DUMB *** off?"

When did I say that? The point is it's unnecessary. The water-cooled centre keeps the bearing area cool enough during driving to not need any extended idling time. As well as that, the turbo's bottom coolant line is connected to the cold side of the radiator while the top coolant line is connected to the hot side. This creates a natural thermosiphon (look it up) that moves water through the turbo after shut-off, further reducing turbo temperature.

I'll bet half the people with turbo timers don't even understand why old turbos needed turbo timers, let alone why new ones don't...

I park the car where it's going to go, set the parking brake, turn the key to "OFF" and then get out of the car and lock it...If I have time I put my ear near the hood and listen to the turbo spin down for the next 30 seconds or so...

Letting the car idle for a few minutes is just a crazy waste of fuel. Unless you just came off the back straight at the track and wound the engine down from 9,000 RPM, any "cool off" time is totally unnecessary.

No turbo timer on my T2. It doesn't need it.

I just turn it off the regular way.

Turbo Timer. Getting out and walking around the rear of my car, feeling the car idle...oh god, so sexy.

The car gets rotten mileage anyways. I know its pointless on a water cooled turbo. But its fun to walk away while its still running and have people look at me and think, why did you leave your car running in 100 degree weather.

The reason I have a turbo timer is, I only drive my car about 3 times a month. So I'll start it up and let the timer run for 10 minutes to let the engine lube up.

I accelerate as fast as I can and smack into a wall. Head on at that. It turns the car off fairly efficiently. I just dont know how many more time I have to stop the car. Its seems to run rather rough now. And sometimes it dont want to start at all.

I first make sure I am actually "done"
then firmly wrap about 10 pieces of toilet pape...

oh wait, uh... i mean...

Right you are. I have a turbo timer hooked up in my car, but I don't use it as a turbo timer. Instead, it's a $100 digital volt meter. And it works GREAT!

Seriously, there is NO need for a turbo timer. It's just a cool japanese toy that makes people go "ooooh, Overnight parts from JAPAN!!"

Do you drive your car full tilt all the way back to your garage? Your car doesn't need 30 seconds to "cool down the turbo" it was doing that the last 100 yards of your commute.

If your at the track and make a run, you have to drive it back slowly right, or take one more lap slowly...

Grab the key and turn it off.

Then I jerk off thinking about the ride I just had.
