How do you remove the eccentric shaft lock nut?

Guys I'm almost there with my tear down and I've run into yet another problem. I have half removed the block and can't get the eccentric shaft lock nut off. I really need good advise on how to remove this.

Thanks!

How do I remove the flywheel nut and flywheel?
The flywheel nut is torqued to approximately 350 Ft-LBs and is 54MM or 2 1/8" in size. You will need a large breaker bar or impact gun and then some means to keep the flywheel still as the nut is spun off. The flywheel can then be pulled off with a puller or pried off from behind. The attached jpg is from one of the threads cited above. It should give you a clue. If you use a 20lb hammer, you can strike the breaker bar a couple of times and the nut comes off. You MIGHT have to heat the NUT with a propane torch prior to doing so. That breaks down the locktite the nut was/should be installed with.

So your talking about the eccentric shaft nut on the front of the engine or the flywheel nut? I'd assume your talking about the nut on the front of the engine since you already have it half torn down. So the above posts dealing with the flywheel aren't going to help. I just went through this with an engine I had and I couldn't get the eccentric shaft nut off and was stuck with the front cover, front housing, front intermediate and the middle housing on the e shaft. I put the back hosuing back on and I had an old rotor that had a clock in it and set it in the back in the housing. I rotated it over and had a pry bar stuck in the exhaust port to block the rotor from turning on the back housing. I then put a shop ragged folded up inbetween the rotor and the housing to keep the rotor from digging into the housing. I then got a 19 socket, a 3 ft cheater bar, and another pipe extension to slide over the cheater bar to get more leverage on it. With the pry bar keeping the rotor from rotating, I was able to break the e shaft nut loose in about 5 sec. Didn't dent the old rotor I was using, but I wouldn't have cared anyway since it's a clock piece now.

I'm not complaining but there's a Bolt on the front and a nut on the rear of the shaft.

Unfortunatley I think your right. IF he has the engine partly apart then it's the Bolt on the front.

Yea, sorry, I guess I wasn't explicit enough. It is the bolt on the front of the engine. I'll try reassembling this thing tomorrow in the morning and using Mr. Benton's method try to pop this thing off. Thanks for the advise guys.....hate running into problems.

Use a propane torch on it for a minute and it will come loose much easier.
