Also, what exactly are the effects of running S4 injectors in an S5 without adapting them...just spliced in the connector?

if you don't have the right resistance you can burn the injector or ECU. Your best bet is to get them clean if you suspect that they are bad and there are a couple of threads on the forum that explain the difference between injectors.

I know the difference...that doesn't matter when you get a car and go to find out what's wrong and happen to notice that there are S4 injectors spliced in there...

Does anyone know how to test them? What voltage is required to open them up?

yes, you can use a stethescope type thing to hear them click.

I have a S4 Resistor pack from a '86 GXL if anyone wants it. It worked fine but I got a Haltech so I don't have it or the stock wire harness.

I would use voltae because you can burn the injector. What you have to do is make a push button for it. Search the forum on that information.
