how do you change the idle on an 87 turbo II?

i want to raise the idle on my car to a lil over 1000 rpms. is this a good idea? would it hurt anything? if not, can anyone tell me how to do it? (i have not been able to get my hands on a service manual yet)

One was is through the idle adjust screw on the BAC valve. Turn it clockwise with the engine idling and see if it rises any. The other way is through the throttle stop screw on the primary throttle butterfly on the throttle body itself. It requires top-mount intercooler removal but it works like a champ, too.

BDC is not talking about the tps screw. He's talking about the throttle stop screw on the aft side of the throttle body, near the water hose.

Why on God's green earth would you want to set your idle at a grand????

Also you have a variable resistor, which is black, oval in shape, plastic, with a tower in the middlle. In the center of the tower is a screw that can be turned about three quarters of a turn. Has R and L embossed on either side fo the screw. The manual at the above site tells you how to adjust it , in the Fuel Section. Also note the screw in the bac really only has effect for the first 2-3 turns FROM being screwed full in. http://www.iluvmyrx7.com
