It's actually fairly easy. Between the two defroster grills at the top of the dash is a small rectangular plastic cover. Pop the cover off. There's an 8mm bolt under that - unbolt it.

The part that holds the defroster grills pops off. Wedge a screwdriver under one side of it, and go all the way along. BE VERY CAREFUL - the part is thin steel, and is RAZOR SHARP. I've sliced the HELL out of my hands on that thing before! Wear canvas gloves or something during the procedure, and only use a screwdriver to pry it up.

Once you get it all popped up, it will come right out. Then, you can just reach in there and undo the plug.

Sounds complicated, but it isn't - I can usually get a logicon out in about 5-10 minutes.

It's funny to hear you say that you can get the logicon out in 10 minutes. I fought with mine for about two hours before I gave up and just unplugged everything from behind the dash and pulled the dash out (it was coming out for interior work anyway) I even read a couple of articles online about how to get the darn thing out, but they didn't help. Maybe mine's just stubborn.

The dash is sitting on a shelf in my garage with the logicon still stuck in it. I glare at it evey time I pass by

BTW I did label all the wires before I unplugged everything. I'm sure it will save a bunch of time when everything is going back together.

When you say "vent control box" if you mean the control unit just above the radio and below the two center vents that controls the AC, vent selection, temp, etc. that's the logicon - that's the proper name for it.

Here's a step by step -

- Pop up the shifter surround.
- Remove the ashtray
- Remove the two center AC vents above the logicon.
- Unscrew the 4 screws holding the radio console in and remove.
- Unscrew the 4 screws holding in the logicon.
- Pull the logicon out.
- Undo the 2 electrical connections on the back of the logicon. You will also see the cable coming from the back of the logicon that snakes up under the dash.
- Remove the top part of the dash as outlined in my earlier post.
- Look just left of center and you'll see the white plug for the logicon - reach in there and unplug it.
- Work the harness/plug through the dash and remove the logicon from the car.

When you get in there, you'll see it - again, it's really not that hard.

And, yes, I can do it without breaking any interior pieces. Burgandy interiors don't count, though .

I've pulled 20-30 Logicons out in my time - I know what I'm talking about here . You don't have to screw around with anything else, it's really a simple process to remove it. It's also about the same time to re-install everything.

You must have more ***** than I. the couple of times I have done it, it took a long time to get the vent part out. But it could be me doing it so slowely because I did not want to break anything.
