But best method is to just tell your friends they are full of BS. After all they are just complaining without any reason. All cars in the US must meet major safety standards. Or dig up old threads about the FC's strong and crashworthy chasis.

I would half agree with the driver being unsafe and half disagree. A lot of people just don't see my FC as being a safe car. Anyone who rides with me gets freaked out even if I'm going under the speed limit because I shift at 3-4k. They think I'm speeding because in their automatic piston cars they shift at 2k. Not to mention I'm making a whole bunch of noise when doing this even though the exhaust is stock. My suspension is loud, transmission gets kinda warm. There's always the smell of oil from a leak somewhere.

To add to that I got pulled over with a buddy in the car for speeding on an empty road. I was going 5 mph over the speed limit in an industrial zone with one other car on the road. None of my friends trust me now because I got caught speeding. I got off with a warning, but that warning was like an automatic repellent for anyone who wanted a ride from me. I'm not complaining.

My mom doesn't know how to drive a stick shift even though she has been driving for longer than I've been born. She thinks stick shift cars will break down any moment or stall on the freeway. She thinks my car is completely unsafe and unfit for the road.

My friends would rather cramp up in the back of the hatch of a CRX (thats right, the HATCH with no seat belts) than to ride with me.

Yah, the ride is a bit bumpy in a FC, and it's not the quietest car, but I think my driving is the same or even better than most of my peers. I know my rules on the street, I'm always willing to yield to people. I don't do stupid **** except for sometimes speeding.

Yet nobody wants to ride in my Rx-7 but they don't mind riding in my Toyota Highlander.

People are just misinformed. How do you make people think your car is safe? Drive a Hummer.

I just got done telling a friend of mine (whose car I often repair) that she really should be looking for a different car. I feel totally unsafe when I drive her car, a '91 Buick Regal Limited with the 3.1L V6. The tires are bald, the suspension is shot, the parking brake doesn't work, everything is falling apart, the steering is the sloppiest I've ever seen. It literally feels like at any moment it could just give up and take you off the road, I told her that if a kid runs out in front of her I'm not sure she'd be able to stop or swerve in time (don't swerve for deer, that's why I used a kid in the example...). My turbocharged '7? It feels 1000 times safer.

When people tell me they don't like riding with me it's because I like to drive quickly and to the point, I don't dick around. That isn't the same thing as unsafe, can sometimes go along with unsafe driving, but not necessarily, however it can make many people feel unsafe. Your friends should at least be confident enough in your abilities that they will ride with you, and it is your responsibility as a driver to keep everyone safe from anything and everything you do on the road.

That thing is a tin can. Try driving that thing on cut springs at 110mph on the 405 freeway or the 10 freeway for that matter and they will know what unsafe feels like, you have to have ***** of steel to drive my car on the freeway. Its so small and tiny and it will just crush like an old beer can if i get into any accident doesnt matter if its at 100+ or if its at 15mph (i can attest to it crumpling at 15mph fucked my hood to **** when that happened because i lost brakes coming into a stoplight).

Thats why as soon as the rotary motor gets put in its getting a full cage, im not comfortable driving that car with any more than its current (stock) 76hp to the crank. The planned rotary swap will be putting down 350whp, and i refuse to even drive the car after that til it has a cage because i know imma go do something crazy as soon as i get the motor in and running right and with my luck if i dont have the cage it will be the one time i really need it lol

I remember when I first bought my FD.. had it for a little awhile

and one day I wanted to take my dad out in it..

of course after adding an FD along side my Pair of FC's i was feeling like Top dawg/king ****..

my dad gets in the car.. closes the door.. and looks forward...

he muters "oh jesus"

i'm like Wha?!?

this thing is like a flying coffin!

it only got worse when we were driving and he heard the classic rear end clunks...

I think the main reason ppl think it's unsafe is because they're relatively small and Light weight cars (allbeit not a K car).. (my dad has an E36 325iS so its big and solid and heavy)

so lightweight doors that don't close with that solid safe door *thunk*..
and respond to all the bumps and grooves in the roads..

they think it's "unsafe" when actually they're just less isolated from the environment.. and their *** is like 6" off the ground...

Your friends dont want to ride in your car? Sweet! Don't have to give rides

The FC doesn't have any of todays safety features (airbags, crumple zones) but it's actually well built so accidents aren't a guaranteed death.

Do you know that a roll cage is more dangerous in a street legal vehicle than in a racing prepped car? The roll cage is put there to enhance the structural integrity of a vehicle that has been modified, "lightened up", for racing purposes. If you aren't wearing proper seat restraints, 4 point harness, have a seat securely anchored to the car's frame and a helment to protect your relatively soft noggin' from cushioning your body's impact with the rollcage. Even in a moderate accident the cage is more dangerous to you than your properly designed and built RX7. You have compromised all the crush zones engineered into the car's frame and body.

Remember cars were designed to enhance the gene pool since wars, plagues. drought and famine aren't doing the job anymore.

Don't put in a cage, you'll probably end up smacking your head and killing yourself or hitting your head and drive into uncoming traffic.

If they don't think it's a safe car, go buy a safe car to appease them. When you're all grown up you can get whichever you want.

tell your friends to grow some *****, or shut up. I feel way more safe in my fc than my 92 accord, and the accord has airbags. the fc is a solid, well built car. Just my 2 cents

I've hit a bridge ABUTMENT at 88MPH and walked away. Some bruising on my ribs...but I walked away, and the passenger still married me 1yr later. It doesn't get safer than that my friend.

This is some bullshit, guys. The RX-7 is perfectly safe. That being said, crashing in ANY car sucks. The RX-7's front end has a tremendous crush zone, and the rear end was built to withstand lots of force. The b-pillars provide a lot of structural integrity, and the whole rear end of the unibody is reinforced. (I read this in the RX-7 book written by Jack K. Yamaguchi.) Now, if you got T-boned, it doesn't have side airbags like any car from that era. If your friends were born in the 80's or early 90's, they've definitely been in a car that was less safe than an RX-7... unless they've been living in a cave their whole life. In short, get some new friends, and sell the RX-7 to some person who will take good care of it.
