how could this have happened

i was just cruisn down wurzbach tonight and sudeely my motor started shuddering really really bad, and was running on one rotor and backfiring sooo horiblly i got this motor from my buddy who bought his seven with a rebuilt by atkins around 90k and now has 140k on it but idk what happened ive only had the motor in my car for 2 days im not new to this any ideas why this could have happened???

Yep, we really can't tell without a compression check. You can do a quick and dirty check by pulling the lower plugs. First, pull the EGI fuses, then pull the lower plug in the front. Crank the car and listen for the compression pulses. You should hear stong, even pulses. Put that plug back and repeat with the rear. If you hear 1 strong and 2 weak pulses, there is a blown apex seal.

sorry i forgot to mention all the specs ,it was rebuilt by atkins around 40k AGO ,i allreaddy did the pulse test and everything ,its not even pulses at all, im just trying to figure out why it happened, i just put the motor in about 500 miles ago my buddy hadit in his vert but we turbo swapped his car. i have to get the accuall number comp test tonight.

well i ejected one seal almost completly and just blew another for a total of 2 seals killed and one apex seal groove on both sides of the rotor where the corner seal sits, is bent in so i had to use another rotor i had
