How Can I test my oil pressure?
I got a quirk going on where my oil pressure gets lower and lower on my car the warmer it gets. I think it the gauge, or sending unit, not the actual oil pressure, but how can I be sure? I have an 80-PSI Oil pressure relief valve, and a High flow upgraded oil pump. When I first rebuilt everything the stock gauge read just like it should, now it reads like it should until the car is warmed up, then it reads 30-40 PSI lower than it should be. Can I use an ohmmeter to test voltage at the sending unit, to see if it's the gauge, or can I test the sending unit/gauge somehow?
Thx much,
Robert

just buy a mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up to check.
When you car is fully warm it should read about 20-30 psi at idle, and atleast 60 psi above 4k rpms if you don't confirm this with your mechanical gauge you may have a pinched o-ring on the front cover.

I realize I can replace the gauge. I would like to know if I can test the function of the current one, or test the oil pressure itself without buying some cheesy **** unwanted oil pressure gauge.
If it's defective I would rather fix/replace the stock one. I have no good spots to mount a after market one. I think maybe the higher oil pressure levels I run now have deytroyed the stock sending unit. How do they function inside? anyone know .. is there a element inside them that can be deystroyed from constant higher levels of oil pressure?

Sonva! Byiotch. I bought a new sending unit on my way home from work, popped it in, and I get the damn same readings. I think that front o-ring is shot.
Couple questions;
1. If it was fine for a few months can/will it go bad over time? Less that 4K miles since the rebuild.
2. how much do I have to take apart to get to the front cover for the O-ring? I don't need to pull the motor do I?
3. What else is easier to check first that may cause this before I pull that cover?
Thx much
