How To bypass the mass airflow

Hey i'm new to rotary's. I just but a 90 GTU and was wondering if there was a way to go custom intake by bypassing the bosch (i think it is) mass air flow. I work with a guy who has a 86 and his just went out. its costing him almost $600 to replace it. i kinda get ahead of the problem before mine goes out. Any other advice on quick, fairly cheap upgrades. i can do the work myself, i do know my way around cars. So bring on any and all advice. Thanks guys.

lol I have a perfect working one for your car for $10 + shipping...just browse the FS section theres tons of good ones. The only way to bypass it I would think would be to get a standalone engine management system.

Yep, the only way a bypass works is by using a stand alone fuel management system (typically $500-$2000).

if it goes out, buy a new one for $20 in the classifieds section. NA parts are cheap.
