How bad did I butcher my Eshaft? Pics

I was attempting to take out the pilot bearing .. however its was in there damn good. So I read a post on here that talked about grinding it out. I thought I would give that a shot, is this looking okay or am I butchering it?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't mean to trouble shoot this on this forum... however I cannot delete or move the post myself

Can someone please post if its working now? I can see the pictures on my end, but I could the first time also, I assume it was/is a access rights issue.

I can see them fine.

Your eshaft looks okay, but try to press another NEW bearing in.

If it fits then fine, its only used very rarely.
theres no real problem if its not in there as firm as a new eshaft would hold it.

This is why i cant stand people saying to GRIND THINGS

Jeesh

WHat follows is the best way to do it if you have no tool/puller

========================

NO NO NO NO...
Its so much easier!!!

Get a metal or hard wooden dowel the SAME SIZE as the -inner diameter- of the bearing.

Make sure the dowel moves freely in and out of the bearing without too much space on the sides.

(Use the transmission pilot shaft as a guide)

THEN...

Take a few cups of water and a few paper towels.

Soak the paper towels in the water and tear thiem into small peices. (important)

Insert as much soaked paper towels as you can into the hole.

Pack them in until you reach the bottom (back) of the bearing.

Then...
Be perpared to be amazed...

Plae the dowel in the hole touching the water soaked paper towels.

Then switfly and firmly strike the dowel with a HEAVY hammer.

The water will shoot out the only place possible.....

behind the bearing.

The bearing will fly out of the hole abruptly.

You will now begin to laugh hysterically.
( This is normal. do not be afraid. )

The faster you hit the dowel with a heavy hammer the better.

You have to "SURPRISE" the bearing out.

This works.

(Now ask me how you can remount a tire with just a lighter.)

Wow, that sounds like a crazy was to do it! I wish I had known that about 3 days ago Live and learn i spose. If I can get my new pilot bearing in there I will be okay? You don't think that this is going to affect the balance of the shaft do you? Its just a small amout of extra metal .. and since its so close to the end of the shaft I hope balance won't be a issue.

Shouldnt be a peoblem.

The alternative is another eshaft.

you could also have tje specs of another eshaft sent to you and have this one machined and sleeved.

That would prolly be more $$ that a ebay shaft.

Sniper X's method for the bearing is a real technique. It is known as "hydraulicing". If you get the bearing out, take a Dremel tool and sand, not grind, any burrs or dings you made in the end of the shaft. They will make it really hard to get the new one in.
On the other hand- I had hoped the "lighter" trick had disappeared from the collective human conciousness! Oh well, it is fun to watch.

Well I had to bring this post back to tell you all, I got my new Pilot bearing in!! Woohoo! i certainly don't recomend this methed except for LAST resort. Since I started this way I had to take about 2 more Hrs today and finish grinding the old one out... It was a tedious pain in the *** to get it right.. but all is well now. The new one is nice I tight I had to use a socket & a rubber mallet to get it down in there... but the bearings spin freely and all is well

Sniper-X's method is the best to do, I always used like bearing grease instead of wet paper towels, but it does the same thing. Definately better than grinding....

Just borrow a bearing puller from autozone, its free and comes right out no problems.
