horn and sensor problems
ok, I just got my '86 FC in and it has a few problems. two of the major problems i think are electrical but, I don't know. When I got it, the horn was not working, come to find out, it was unpluged. when I pluged it in, the horn would not shut off. the other problem I think is with the Tachometer. when I am moving, there is a constant and steady beep coming from something. the reason I think it is the Tachometer is because it never moves, like it is not pluged in.(it's got the white illuminated gauges in it.)
I have brought these problems to a few local mechanics and no one can seem to figure it out. I just brought it to the local mazda dealership and they think that it is the horn pads in the steering wheel but, they want to charge me 150 bucks, just to look at it, not replace.
can anyone help me or should I just shell out the 150 bucks to know for sure?

The horn...........gets its power from a horn relay in the CPU. The horn relay gets pulled in by a ground you put on it by pushing the horn button. Look at the wiring in the wiring manuals and work it from there.
You could cut your problem in half by pulling the plug off the CPU and with you meter, seeing if there is a ground on the Green/Orange wire all the time or not. If it only has a gnd when you press the button, then the problem is in the CPU. Like the horn relay.
