Hks F-con

hi all,

i've posted briefly about this before in another thread, but didn't get too much insight on it. hopefully someone can answer my questions this time around.

the 88 T2 i purchased came with an HKS F-CON installed by the po. my question is, how far can i go with this unit? i'd like to go with full 3" piping all the way from the turbo, but i know i definitely need fuel mods to support that. i know i may have to upgrade the secondaries but will the F-CON provide enough fuel at that boost level?

the F-CON is a pricey unit, so i'm assuming its pretty high quality. hopefully someone else on this forum can help me out with this.

Im in the same boat as you man, got a 87 t2 w/ a japanese 88t2 motor in, 3in turbo back exhaust w/ hks fcon. The key is more fuel. Need new injectors or you'll have a bad mixture, and too much fire will shoot out. There is hella boost creep in mine, you may need to get a bigger turbine, or port it. Get a boost controller. If you open the hks computer up there will be a dial. Showing numbers around it, i just kept mine at 5 to be on the safe side.
good luck man.

Ive been running my TII with a 3" turboback @.8 bar for the last 7 months with the stock fuel system.

Do you have a EGT gauge? If not you should buy one, it's really a good way to tune your fuel with out a wideband, or a $350 A\F gauge from greddy

Whats "hella boost creap"?

Mine with stock boost of 5.5 psi creaps to .8 bar with a 3" racingbeat DP and TID mod. Mad creap for me is the time my boost controler was wide open and the **** boosted to 1.4 bar in third gear by 4200 rpm

boost creep, your boost will go too fast and your rpm will only be at like 5.5

with a bigger fuel pump the f-con should be good till 12psi.

it won't control bigger injectors any better then a stock one unless you get the GCC for it.

i'm going to install the appropriate guages when i get the car back, ie. egt, boost, oil press, water temp.

not sure what temps to look for to tune it right...

anyone else have any experiences with the HKS F-CON?

reguarding the injectors, im sending them out to RC to get them cleaned. if i the F-CON will support it ill drop in some bigger secondaries, although not sure what size yet.

im definitely porting the wastegate until i can get the clearance for a new turbo w/ an external, and even then im not sure if the F-CON will support the system that far. id like to go with a 3" from the turbo now, so i wont have to upgrade the exhaust system again later.

so if anyone else has more experiences with the F-CON, chime in, PLEASE~!

You cannot run staggered fuel injectors short of getting a custom "chip" for the F-CON.&nbsp You'll need a GCC (Graphic Control Computer) to adjust for anything other than stock fuel injectors; this is like a $400 component.

My suggestion - get rid of that F-CON and buy an A'PEXi S-AFC.&nbsp It's a lot more flexible and cheaper...

yeah i was reading up on the F-CON last night and found out about that GCC...sounds like i might have to go with an S-AFC now instead of later.

to sum this thread up, there are TOO MANY variables to correlate boost and hp, which is why 1psi = 10 hp is a rule of thumb, a guide...something you can use to predict hp when you play with boost on the dyno
