hitting 1psi of boost..YAY...wtf
i dont know what the hell is wrong with the car, but for some reason the engine only pushes out 1psi. there arent any leaks in the piping or bad vaccuum leaks. the boost gauge is showing i think like 20psi vaccuum then when i get on it around 3k rpms hit hit 1psi and it wont go any higher...wtf

your gauge could be messed up. a friend of mine had a gauge that was messed up in his 3rd gen. so find a friend that has one and try theirs. then go from there.

gauges are fine, they all are correct. as for compression i havent checked yet, becausse the car feels fine. it just doesnt boost. maybe im just not seeing a boost leak one of the hoses could be rotted out.. ill replace them all today..

If that was the diagnosis from the 'rotary shop' I'd highly suggest finding someone else to deal with. They seem liek they don't know what they are talkin about.
Check the Wastegatge, pressureize the intake to find boost leaks, check the turbo. Those should be your first 3 items on your checklist.

Enemies of boost: clogged cat/mufflers, exhaust leak, intake leak (aka vacuum leak), bad turbo (multitude of possibilities: broken fins on compressor/exhaust wheel, blown oil seals (on turbo), too much wear (old turbo), dirty intake filter, clogged intake (collapsed pipe), broken bypass valve (or incorrectly installed, like trying to vent it to atmosphere), clogged intercooler (too much blow-by build up), lack of compression.

I examined the motor some today and this are two things i was wondering about the one on the right was open so i plugged it with a spark plug, as for the left one it had a rubber cap on it that was very hard and had a crack right down the side so i took it off and replaced it with some masking tape. what the hell are these? are they important?

the hose to the right i believe is a crankcase ventilation tube, not necessarily important to your driveability problem but it could cause other issues like oil leaks if it is in fact for crankcase ventilation. the tube to the right is an unused port, if you trace it back it should be capped off at the back of the motor as well, at least on my '87 T2 it is unused so i assume it is on your car as well.
can you hear the Turbo spooling up at all? my original thought was your wastegate is stuck open, it could also be your stock BOV bypassing.

i think i hear my turbo spooling, its hard to tell with the 3in exhaust but it def sounds like something is moving when you hit around 3-4k rpm lol
the bov is blitz super sound and it cant be leaking because i just tightened it to ensure that it wasnt, i still hit the same aomunt of boost..
this is starting to **** me off

well the ones on the left are important if you need to pass smog and probably the one on the one that is plugged to the right. This will probably have a bad effect on boost because of the vac leak that would happen because of the crack. Did you take it for a drive after you temp fixed the issues???
this just started happening?

so many things it can be.
1. clogged cats
2. bad turbo (check for shaft play and if it spins freely)
3. check for vac leaks (use some carb cleaner)
4. check all the couplers on the ic to make sure they are tight (some times on hose clamps they will be hand tight but when boost starts going through them they flex, if this happens change of course)
5. check to make sure you wasteage is not stuck open however most would think that you would still get full boost with this but not till much later on.
That should give you enough to do for a while. Sorry for the blured speach (typing) in the first post I don't think I was drunk
ps. don't know if you want to mod that thing at all but one thing I would do is remove the emissions (rats nest) witch will get rid of about 90% of all of those vac lines under the hood. Also you may want to do a fuel pump rewire because I wasn't getting full boost untill I did this. I was getting about 3-5psi. Anyways this is just a suggestion being that you don't have smog tests and it will simplify things alot!!!!
pps. don't get scared of doing either of those things mentioned above because I am no expert but after a bit of research and some good help on the forum I got it done no problem. After you do these mods you will no longer be affraid of anything but rebuilding your engine

today driving back from class, i hit a high rpm and did 1psi through the whole thing as i deaccelerated a huge clud of smoke came out the rear, if a car was behind me you wouldnt even have seen him. does that mean blown turbo?

maybe so, something like the oil seal or something maybe bad. I am not an expert on this though because that has never hapened to me. You might want to get some other opinions to see if thats it. If your car was boosting fine and now its not it could be a bad turbo and you may beable to find one on the forum for around 75-125. Good luck
