hit cut even with FCD? high idle thing stopped working? is this related?

ok i got my car yesterday afternoon.. i love it by the way.

Iv been reading up for months now and what to do and what not to do. I know fuel cut is BAD... so this sucks.

Yesterday when i got my car it high idle thing at start up worked... went to 3k and then idled down to just under 1k (still bounces a bit but its a TII so im happy)
I installed the Fcon and the high idle stopped working, my stock boost gauge works half the time ( i have a aftermarket one so its ok), and it still hits fuel cut.

I have been playing with the adjustment on the FCD and i think its not helping. It still does it.

1) is the high idle warmup related to the fuel cut thing?

2) does the fcon stop the high idle warm up?

3) what is the FCD supposed to be set to for a 87 Tii?

thanks,
jaared

ill post pics of the fcd asap. its different than the one on the hks site. the dial on mine in behind the cover.

The high initial idle should not be related to the FCD. A couple of things that might make it stop working is the wires have fallen off the water temp switch located on the bottom of the radiator or the Neutral switch on the transmission is flakey. Or the plug on the bac has fallen off or the plug on the air bypass solenoid has fallen off. Or if the water temp is above 68 degrees (memory) the high idle won't happen.

I'd show a little more concern about the factory boost gauge not showing half the time. If it's not seeing boost......then the ECU isn't seeing boost either. Both items feed off the same output wire of the boost sensor. It the ECU does not see the boost, then it can't adjust the timing etc that it should be adjusting at boost levels.

when i pound on tha dash it comes on. i guess its a loose wire... but how am i hitting fuel cut if the ecu cant see boost correctly?

does the signal go through the gauge then to the ecu? if not i think my gauge wire may be loose.

It's just the wire going to the gauge that is bad/not on good. Your right. I had my head stuck somewhere that was dark. You could not hit fuel cut if the thing was not getting to the ECU. No it does not pass thru the gauge and then go to the ECU. Its a spliced wire off the boost sensor. One split goes to the gauge, the other to the ECU.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with FCON. I just have a DIY fuel cut defender set to 3.65 volts as the clamping voltage. That is set with a pot in the fcd. FCON is different I think.

Maybe a search on the web using FCON? Might find a manual for it. I remember doing this a year or so ago. A bit tedious but it can be done. HKS and FCON as the search words??????

EDIT: I just did that and got this hit http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/FCON_install.html take a look at it. That's about as far as I care to go with this.

I just read that site I pasted above. It has a FCON installation guide at that site. If I understand what I read, it would seem the FCON came with its own pressure sensor and a harness that went to it. So I assume that you need that pressure sensor for the thing to work right????? Also it gave a site to call if you had trouble installing the FCON.
