.....if he doesn't like the simplest, correct answer he can always SEARCH the entire database(i;m sure he'll find a buttlaod of threads on this VERY subject).........which, honestly, he should have done to begin with. <edited for flaming>

from what I have read here...the N/A engine is Best on 85 octane.Since the Pump Gas is 87, then just run that.Unless you have a turbo, you are just wasting Money at the Pump.

Opinions are like........
I can't stand threads with no real answers.
With stock timing/fuel, 87 is best. The stock engine is too rich without an aggressive enough timing curve, and usually does not benefit from extra octane.
Advance your timing if you really want to use high octane fuel.
If you have the means of adjusting the A/F ratio, then the octane will come in handy to prevent detonation in a leaned out NA.
If you run additional premix with oil metering working, running 88-89 would make up for the premix oil added.
And, step up a grade when using a full bottle of any octane reducing distillate/solvent based FI cleaner.
Octane degrades with time. Vehicles stored should use higher octane fuel and a fuel stabilizer to deal with gum/varnish/moisture.

Do we have to have another thread on this??? The search function is found in the uer right hand corner of the page...
If LittleCon had searched he (or she) would have found that anything more than 87 octane on a stock FC motor actually is more likely to cause problems, and will actually result in less HP.
See the octane rating has absolutely nothing to do with BTU or power output. The only thing higher octane numbers do, is make it harder to pre-ignite. It makes the burn slower. Higher octane does not contain any additional power or performance unless the motor was designed or tuned to run on a higher octane (and even then the additional power is only a result of higher compression or boost along with computr processing).
In fact (more so on a non-turbo) you want the gas to ignite as easy as possible. Lower octane on a rotary with less than a 10:1 compression actually burns cleaner and faster than a higher octane.
So using higher octanes on a stock motor will result in increased deposits on the rotor faces(which could result in pre-mature engine failure), less power, and less money in your wallet.
So why would you waste the money and buy anything but 86 or 87 octane???
And finally, thread closed. Covered and proven countless times before.

hahaha......You got butthurt because I was flaming street-racing drifters and without any prior knowledge as to why I felt this way you posted:
"i got a nifty Idea for ya!! LAY OFF DRIFTING "
Once I posted why I felt this way YOU POST:
"Nah, I would much rather sit here and dispute your worthless drivel. You come onto this thread spouting off about homo drifers/etc, and I feel the need to come dispute your bullshit. So you now have my uninterrupted attention. Go ahead, keep up the flaming"
AND NOW I'M the one who looked like an IDIOT???
THEN IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THREAD YOU START TRYING TO RILE ME UP (which isn't working BTW)........
leave me alone old man....You're going senile.
