High Idle Cost

on a 1990 TII the idle is around 3000!!! how do you fix high idle and how much would it ruffly cost?

If It idles like that when its cold thats perfectly normal (on N/As atleast), If it does it when its warm too, I would try to set the Idle, If you do it yourself its free, there should be a good writeup somewhre on setting the idle.

If that doesnt work, check vacume lines and stuff like that. Check the throttle cable tension/binding.

Alright, I have been going through the mazda MM (trying to avoid studying) it says.

Problem: High Idle speed (at normal operating temp)

Possible causes:

It says, Airflow meter (really damn expensive), Throttle sensor, water theromosensor, power steering pressure switch, and ECU
Obviously it could be other stuff as well.


NOTE: be sure to check condition of the wiring harness and connectors before checking the sensors or switches.

Check engine light on?

It is normal on all RX-7s to idle at 3k when cold. You can modify the car to avoid doing this. If it idles like that all the time, do as stated above.
Also, you can only edit your posts for a ceratain amount of time.

theres an 87 02 senser and downpipe on the car.. is it possible that it could not be registering and screwing up the idle (asking for itstimeslyke)
