They're wrong. You need one box for the leading coil. If you wanted, you would need an additional 2 boxes (for a total of three) for the leading plugs, but you would see no measurable gains from putting a CDI unit onto the trailing plugs.

Just get the one for the leading plugs and ignore crane.

scathcart is right. Only need a single one for the leading coil, and it is a waste for doing the trailing coils (which would require two Hi6's for just the trailing coils).

well thanks guys for that. i knew somethign was up coz REted, FC3S.org and Scott89_T2 only used one box.

Scathcart, im RajunCajun in BCRX7 and this info came from Mopac. I was gonna get installed by them, but i get butterflies in my stomach when a non-rotary shop touches my car.

thanks again.

Never ask a rotary related question to a non rotary shop. When you install the Hi6 or any ignition amplifier,
make sure you install the ground on clean metal and use dielectric grease on your connections.

Also it's generally a waste of money (at least in my opinion anyway) to use these boxes on a stock or nearly stock car. The FC ignition system is quite good, and the $400 can be better spent.

Jegs sells them for under $200.
An MSD 6A sells for a little less.
I think the Mallory Hyfire's sell for even less.

There have been mixed experience with the CDI boxes, but I have had only positive results to far.

Ok, I've searched enough, I consider this thread close enough to relivent to post this;

There is a few crane cams boxes that Summit sells:

CRN-6000-6301 Ford: 1986-95 Mustang, aluminum, black, HI-6S box, PS-91 performance coil, and TFI-IV adapter harness, ignitio... $159.95

CRN-6000-6440 Ignition Box, HI-6, Multi-Spark, CD/Digital, with Rev Limiter, Black Finish, Each $219.95

HUge price difference, can I just buy the one for the mustang and rig it to work with mine?

"HI-6S" is not a CDI box if you read the fine print.
It's basically a voltage regulator that steps up the voltage (to the coils) slightly higher than the stock electricals can.

We're looking for a CDI box for the capacitive discharge.
