hey, im a newbie with a few questions...

Hey, I'm Erik. Ive got an '88 Turbo II... And ive also got a couple questions. First, I had my stock clutch replaced at a local mazda shop. when i went to go pick it up i asked the mechanic if there was any kind of warranty on the clutch. He kind of gave me a wary, sideways glance and told me "ya' know this car ain't for drag racing, it's for auto cross." He added that it "did have a one year 'parts and labor' warranty", but that i better "not come back in a month sayin' my clutch is slipped". I kind of assumed (ignorantly) that he replaced it with an upgrade clutch, but it was just a stock replacement. Anyways, i was stoked on the new clutch, broke it in, but was a bit peturbed to find out that i could barely get any second gear scratch. In my old NA, with a new clutch i was getting major scratch. Now, i know that scratch is not a good thing, but for me its a fun thing (sometimes)... So, I went ripping around for a few minutes about a week ago, trying to perfect my shifting method, attempting to get the elusive 'second gear scratch' when i slightly slipped my clutch in the proccess. My first question is thus; Is my inability to scratch the tires, due to the fact that the Rx has a stock limited slip? If it is, i feel like a dork for never putting two and two together (and saving myself the clutch slippage)... Next is an ethical question; Do i contact the mechanic and wrangle with him about whether or not he should have to replace my clutch? Philosophically, if there is need of a warranty, they admit that they are occasionally at fault, and since their is no definiton of what 'normal driving conditions' are, who are they to say that i was driving abusively? Should i try to get him to order me a new, heavy duty clutch, and than pay him for the labor? Any reccomendations for clutches? I dont want to be a jerk, so if you guys dont think i should complain, i wont. Also, my car warms up in stages... Starting at about 2000rpms, it drops down to 1500, bounces up and down rhhh..rhhh..rhhh.., for a few minutes than slowly works its way down to 800rpm's. The whole proccess takes close to 10 minutes. The problem is; if i dont allow the car to take its "10", than if i rev to 5000rpms or so, the motor will begin shuddering violently... This is very unpleasant, so if there is an answer as to why... or any sort of remedy, i would appreciate a response. Im sorry for the long post, but i found it difficult to adequetely explain my problems in any shorter format. THANK YOU!!!

Don't say you raced the car. NEVER say you raced the car. As far as anyone who has to pay money on a warranty that they gave you to fix a part covered by that warranty is concerned, you drive like a little old grandma in a church parking lot. Give them a reason, any small sort of reason, and they WILL, now this is one of those things that is completely 100% guaranteed in life, DEFINITELY try to weasel out of replacing said part for free.

As far as I know, that's the normal warm-up process for rx7's. I can tell you that it's the same for my Accord - 1500 - 1000 - 700.
