start em young, start em right
you'r lucky to have parents supportive of your hobby. i would have loved to have a project car at that age but i my folks never wanted me using the garage or "traking dirt into the house" grr........
tii hood on an n/a isnt my taste but you are doing enough other serious work to keep it from being ricey in my book (or is that what you are going for?)
be carefull with her once you get your liscnce if/when you wreck your first car it realy suxks. especialy if its one you put a lot of love into.

I think that it looks alright, the paint job needs some help, but you look like you're cleaning that up really well. I did a job like this on a Dodge Shadow, 5-spd, turbo, when I didn't know whether or not I would be able to afford a car, and I am trying to sell it now to make up some more money to mod my 7! Wish I had a 7 to play with back when I was 15 or 16, but I guess being 17 now, looking back on it, it was worth the wait to find the one I wanted.
And with the lowering thing, If he likes it, leave him alone, besides I think it looks good, but it is what you think about your own car that really counts

i would not suggest cutting your springs to lower car....
not safe and can make it look rice...insted put the correct lowering springs for the height you need...or can afford...also i suggest changing your suspension to 5-lug with the big 4-piston front brake calipers...with the 5-lug you will have alot more wheel options for the car....and much better brakes..the car looks ok so far just the cutting the springs i wouldent do.the hood is fine and not rice...

everything i want to say has already been said. I dont want to turn this into a spring cutting flamewar or something, but i would simply avoid cutting springs all together. looks good, but *MOST* of the time, will yield junky results.. (so ive heard)

I'd say awesome, but the front looks way too low, can the car successfully trun without wheel rub? I'd save money and go Eibach prokit springs. You'll get a nice stiff drop, youll love it. but to me it looks too low to drive.
