I'm not sure if this is the same symptom that I had, but my '90 GXL had a "Pop" in the exhaust. The car did not seem to ilde smoothly (looking at it under a microscope - Rev meter on the ECU) but the 7 did the baritone rumble then "Pough" - a kind of pop sound about every three or four seconds.

Yesterday I had a slight exhaust leak addressed and "What do you know?" The "Pop" went away.

Hop this Helps

yeah, thats what it hought to.. but, its not really constant, so i just thought it might be a problem, thanks anyways man, you may just be right about it being normal, it runs fine, just the little "skip" or "putt" just kinda got me thinking, no big deal though, thanks

My T2 does it too, usually when on the high idle (1500rpm or more) Once it's warmed up and gets driven around the block it settles down at 700ish and it stops doing that. I assumed it had something to do with the street port.

I have exactly the same thing on my '87 TII without a streetport. I have not cats, airpump, acv, egr, etc....otherwise stock. Thing is my car does not do it all the time.....go figure. Seems better if the variable resistor is adjusted all the way lean.

My bone-stock 89 TII and my buddy's bone-stock-and-damn-near-perfect 87 TII both do that, too. It's a sort of "hmmmmm-blum-hmmmmmmmmmm-blum-blum-hmmmmmm" from the exhaust. Really neat sounding, and not a problem. Someone told me that once I get an open exhaust, when I get a little "blum" I'll see a quick blue flame out the exhaust. Ubercool.
